Neil Young on Charles Manson

Watch the video HERE

Neil wrote "Revolution Blues." The line, "10 million dune buggies" is a reference to Manson's plan to assemble ample forces in the Mojave desert to carry our his race war. Read about it HERE.

Neil Young...this guy is such a talent. The greatest musician/songwriter to ever come out of canada, by far. He's coming to Ottawa in nov and is a show I will surely see.

Sounds like he knew him kind of well. Definitely not a one time meeting.

The following link has information on Charlie auditioning for Young's band and why he wasn't hired. If it's true it seems to me that he'd have been just as likely to have sent Tex to Neil's house, to Melcher's.
It begins two paragraphs above Charlie's picture. http://anokatony.wordpress.com/2011/05/05/the-dark-stuff/

I'm thinking that Neil Young might have been "cooler" than Terry Melcher. Melcher may have bluntly told Manson "No, I'm not giving you a record contract," Plus, Manson perceived Melcher and the Beach Boys of ripping off his song "Cease to Exist".

Neil Young on the other hand recommended Manson to Mo Ostin and gave him a motorcycle. Here's a link to a bit more info about Young:

Neil Young

Neil Young may have recognized the danger Manson represented and avoided confrontation without Manson even really being aware of it.

Of course as eccentric as Manson was (and is), he was just as likely to send Watson to anyone's house.

Orwhat, that'd kinda make ya think that the murders were NOT about a record contract, wouldn't ya?

I've lost track of the supposed hit list that the family was supposed to have had. Does anyone know if Neil Young was on the list?

Gotta wonder how some of these intelligent Celebes who knew MANSON ever thought he was OK. Sorry he's what 77 now still creeps me out. Honestly I was suprised and a bit disturbed that some on here actually support even claim to be friends with MANSON just an opinion but don't want any of Charlie's supports moving into my neighborhood I'd keep the 44 even closer

William, it's not at all a surprise that many celebritys embraced manson.Charlie was a very talented and charismatic man. For a guy who was virtually brought up in prison, with minimal guitar skills, mansons songwriting is nothing short of genious! In fact, neil young said charlie was one of the movers and shakers in the music scene at the time. Did you know that Al lewis, ( grandpa from the munsters) let charlie baby sit his kids?,had affairs with angela lansburys daughter, the daughter of i believe, lou abbotts daughter from abbott and costello fame, buffalo springfield jim morrison, the mamas and the papas, all expressed interest in mansons music. Guns and roses, rob zombie, tenenbre and yes marylin manson have all been influenced by mansons music and persona.I have absoloutly NO problem with this. I have No condemnation for charles manson, and i respect his beliefs and views, as many of them are proven and biblical. If that's not enough, JONH LENNON said about charlie, "The guys crazy, but "He tells a lot of truth. Last but not least, bugsliosi said " In his rants, he says a lot of things that are true. AND ps.To his CREDIT, bugsliosi said, "I felt sorry for charles manson as a boy" for the way he was brought up.I concur!

OK hex you brought up many good points and I am well aware of the celebrity ties except Al Lewis but come on nobody noticed something isn't right with this Guy Charlie's trip was death heard it said over and over again. Some of these people I get not catching on Pops John Philip's probably more
Insane then MANSON But people like Frank Zappa being around em shocks me there's a real musical. Master. Never found any of MANSONS music very good a con man racist who's hero was Hitler maybe not a Murderer but one sick individual all the same. I'm a huge fan of the case and that whole area but a fan of MANSON not this boy. Sorry IM sure some are bound to be offended by some of my beliefs but I've stated before and will say it again Don't want any supporters of Charlie living in my neighborhood the ole 44 special would move from my nightstand to mg waistband
