Did she find out what really happened?

Cielo - I'm hitting an imaginary 'like' button right now.

George - please tell us a little more about this amazing image!

George,

Did she remain incognito after the 'talk'?

Did the 'tour guide' have a 'Special Permit'?

Was there a charge?

How much of the commentary was fabrication?

P.S. I wonder how long it will be before Vera turns up.

They actually took people up there on a tour? That's amazing given how difficult you guys have said it is to get up there. Some Manson tour guide who doesn't recognize Sandy, right?

AustinAnn74 said...

She could of told that tour guide a thing or two about a thing or two!

DebS said...

I love this!

It does seem kind of chancy to commit to giving a tour of Barker but there are times when the road is in pretty good shape. I'm envisioning that the attendees were on a guided tour from the UK!

What did they charge for the tour, George?

Matt said...

That looks like Aes-Nihil's bus! LOL. Those tourists were obviously oblivious...

Think the tour guide would have a story to tell for the rest of his life should he get a copy of this pic? Lol

Priceless

OFF TOPIC

The following has appeared in the British tabloid press. I hate when these type of stories come out, especially so soon after a person has passed. I hope no PR agencies take her on.

Between the awesome picture and Cielo's comment, I can't stop laughing. I admire people who live their beliefs. Hope she's well, & happy. Thanks for sharing the photo, Mr. Stimson.

MHN said...

Trilby - people living their beliefs.... aren't they the guys who cause half the suffering in the world?

George Stimson said...

We visited the desert around Death Valley a lot in the 1990s. I know that this picture is from 1992 because we never drove the VW bus up Goler Wash after the summer of that year because of washouts. Earlier, before everybody had SUVs and GPS systems, you had to know how to get there. So there wasn't a lot of traffic and you could stay for days at a time and not see anybody. This group came up, though, and asked to see the place. In 1992 the ranch was still under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). It wasn't until the ranch became part of Death Valley National Park in 1994 that you would have needed a permit to conduct backcountry tours.
I don't remember Sandy asking any questions. We didn't have any. As for what anybody else said, we just let the people say and think whatever they wanted to be true.
In another instance we were up there when these locals came up from the Lone Pine area. One of them had a two-inch thick stack of photos that he'd been loaned by a friend who was one of the cops in on the arrests of "the Family" in October 1969. The pictures were in color and looked like they had been taken yesterday. Sandy was in several of those pictures, and although we looked through the whole stack with the visitors they didn't recognize her.

Terrapin said...

No disrespect intended, but from every interview i've seen of Sandy i think the fact that she kept her mouth shut the whole time and didn't go off on a rant is more mystifying than the motives of TLB lol

Guida Diehl said...

It must be the weirdest feeling in the world to take a guided tour of a significant place from YOUR past with the tour guide actually DISCUSSING your own past. Weird vibes of "Wow, I'm now an American legend!" (although, & maybe I'm reading into it a bit, she doesn't look too impressed in the picture). Personally I'd be up front demanding a cut from the tour operators... "This is MY story you're making bank on", after all.

Thanks so much for the great picture & story, George. This honestly made my day.

@George Stimson:

Do you have any information about Sandys sister Ginny who died in the 80s? We've read the book "Ginny Good" about her!

It seems like her life had been messed up at least since the 70s. But there's no further information or photos on the internet.

Are there any new internet projects of Sandy Good where one can get information about her life today or contact her?

Best regards!

George, it's amazing how context is everything - I once bumped into a very close friend in an entirely unexpected location and there was a period of at least 5 seconds where my brain was scrambling to work out who the hell they were before I realised it was in fact one of my closest friends.

I can't think of many contexts more paradoxically unexpected than finding yourself stood next to a member of the Manson Family on a Manson Family tour.

I've always had tremendous curiosity regarding if the infamous are as interested in their past exploits as the rest of us. For example, I have been trying for months to find out if Whitey Bulger ever saw "The Departed" while he was hiding out in California and if he did what he thought of it (horrible imo). Or if Caroline Kennedy has ever been to Dealey Plaza. Stuff like that.

I know I talk to much about the prospect of a funeral or memorial service for Charlie, but imagine going to it and looking around trying to figure out if Family members are there in disguise. That would be a trip.

Manson 2000 vol. 2 by aes-nihil/Nelson purports to show Diane Lake & Barbara Hoyt on a tour of Barker Ranch. Has anyone seen it?

Trilby said...

To be more specific, Michael: My admiiration is directed towards those who "walk the walk" in a way of positive intention and/or fighting injustice. I despise hypocrites. But I also don't see most situations in stark black and white, but rather a myriad of shades in between on the polarity scale. I have very, very strongly held beliefs on a few things - animal abuse, for instance. I think people who hurt animals should be executed, & I'd have no problem with being asked to flip the switch. How different beliefs are perceived depends on where you stand regarding the issue. So while I vociferously disagree with lifestyles such as, for example, the Duggar family (to illustrate using a recent U.S. news story, or what passes for a news story these days to serve the purpose of distracting us from the real issues); what I despise even more is their pious hypocrisy and lies. Just because I have an opinion that leans more towards one side or another, that doesn't preclude me from always being curious about everyone's views, or wanting to look at all sides and angles of issues. I know we're conditioned to see everything through prisms of ethnocentrism, nationalism, a myriad of "-isms" constantly in flux with pieces tumbling as the kaleidoscope turns... but I don't like labels.

HellzBellz,

Thanks for the heads up on the article. I was wondering where GrayWolf has been since he was forcibly removed from Corcoran. After watching the video of him and Star being filmed by a National Enquirer cameraman, I have sympathy for them on this occasion. There is quite a bit of mischief making in the Daily Mail article.

Wouldn't it be funny if this was one of Nelson's tours (he and Aes-Nihil were hanging out together during this time period). I mean he stalks Good at her home but doesn't recognize her standing next to him.

Robert Hendrickson said...

I'm sorry, I can't think of anything clever to say about Sandy being at the now historical Barker Ranch - disquised as a whatever - BUT some very relevant clues are hitting the NEWS. A WHITE 20 year old alledged "hater" of Black people - wants to start a RACE WAR - and shoots up a bunch of them - in a church - and apparently nobody can figure out WHY.

GEE: Let's SEE, what could this kid have been watching on the nightly NEWS for the last 6 months. BINGO ! WHITE Cops shooting BLACK people everywhere.

NOW, couple that with last night's episode of Aquarious and soon enough the chips may fall where they ought to.

PS: When the BIBLE was written, WHO could actually READ ?

Anonymous said...

Thank you George and Sandra for sharing that and thank you for your detailed explanation of the picture, George. I appreciate your continued contributions to this blog.

@Robert Hendrickson - Is that the same American news media that was so hellbent on exploiting racial tensions that they turned a mestizo into a "white hispanic" for the sake of maintaining a "White Guy Kills A Black Guy" narrative to rile up the masses?

They must've thought they hit the jackpot when the news broke in this case. Then they saw the suspect : another young, heavily medicated, mentally unbalanced, moron with a bad haircut. Not really any different than any of the other mass shooters in recent years. So who or what does the media blame now? Last I heard, it was the confederate flag's fault.

When Charles Manson says (I'm paraphrasing) that the media buys and sells death and plays upon the fears of the American public, can anyone argue that he's wrong?

Guida Diehl said...

You're wrong, mate. It wasn't the Confederate flag's fault- it was the fault of Confederate flags on LICENSE PLATES.

Racial tolerance & understanding will not be achieved in America until every single license plate is hunted down and exterminated. Bastards.

I find it hard to feel bad for Star and Grey re: themselves being filmed , since they have went on CNN and and several other media programs and gave interviews to major magazines like Rolling Stone. They put themselves out there in the media, now they are angry they are being filmed and photographed? A bit different with Lynette Fromme. She has, it seems purposely stayed away from the media for many years, even before she was released, and didn't make a big thing when she was released. I feel she was ambushed by the media in that incident. Star and Grey made very sure they are well-known, by their own media campaign and announcements. Zzzzzzz

How about this Ziggy:

Look at the photo carefully ! All WHITE people and a VW "Nazi" made German van. Maybe Sandy was the "post" Armageddon messenger re-checking to SEE if the Barker Ranch will still be available AFTER ISIS does its business in the land of the Black Muslims ?

Just LOOK at the dark glasses and the base ball cap - that's the government's authorized costume issued to ALL CIA agents.

CIA - Manson Family - Mi Lai Massacre - Black and White Race War - ISIS takes over the Middle East and Pigs take over America. NOW, that's entertainment folks !

Down with the TREES - Woody Woodpecker in 2016

Guida Diehl said...

Robert Shea & Robert Anton Wilson argued in the Illuminatus! trilogy that Bugs Bunny was the perfect symbol/mascot for any REAL anarchist movement.

I think those two Roberts had some rubbish ideas, honestly- but I would happily throw my hat in the ring with OUR Robert and any movement with Woody Woodpecker as a symbol/mascot.

Maybe George could start a rival movement represented by Yosemite Sam... ;)

Are YOU 2 the only ones who get it.

The crazy - mentally ILL - bad guys are "LICENSED"

ALL the "establishment" has to do is TEACH the Cops ( or some new and improved TSA people ) how to READ a license plate.

BUT even the so-called PRESIDENT of the greatest NATION on Earth is "scratching" his HEAD over this one.

PS: Sandy Good, Mary Brunner, "Clem" and of course CM were the smartest (aware) folks in the Family.

Sometimes a simple photo says it all.

@Trilby, "I despise hypocrites: "I think people who hurt animals should be executed" "I'd have no problem pulling the switch? Really? Trilby, did you know that Thomas Edison, one of the 'Inventors' of the electric chair, tested it on Cows & Elephants, before humans? We are all very zealous about issues, and sometimes even I make an ASS out of myself too!

Matt said...

Joe, I read the same. It's horrific the way animals have been treated. In centuries past it was much worse since awareness wasn't as great as it is now. Seeing African park rangers protecting that White Rhino is a testament to how far the human race has come.

Joseph said...

Matt, I hear that White Rhino is pretty good smoke too!

Beauders...Aes-Nihil and Nelson never hung out together - it was strictly buying and selling

Leary...you're absolutely right - The Departed was indeed horrible

I didn't mean they were BFF's Their relationship was mostly business it was Nelson who introduced me to Aes-Nihil. I do think they did go to Barkers together though.

@Vermouth Brilliantine - If it wasn't for that darn pesky confederate flag, he would have been a honors student, currently in University and well on his way to finding a cure for Sickle-cell disease.

We need to ban any and all representations of that flag, including Dukes of Hazzard reruns, Lynyrd Skynyrd, UNLV & Ole Miss sports teams, Larry The Cable Guy, Civil War re-enactments, Civil War Museums, illustrated US History books and last but not least, as you mentioned, the worst offender of them all, Yosemite Sam.

@Robert Hendrickson - Those big bad Nazis with their 12 year military–industrial complex. How long has ours lasted? Should we start from the Civil War or when we were slaughtering Injuns? And lets not forget Operation Paperclip. We didn't mind Nazis when we were sneaking them in to play on our side.

Fast forward to present day. More of the same. But look at the bright side. Next year we may get the chance to elect another Clinton or Bush.

It's all about images and that's what WE all remember most.

So what IF there really is a GOD and once in awhile HE sends someone to remind US what WE really look like ? Like what IF that person is nothing more than a mirror - reflecting US back at ourselves ?

Now, that's Far-Out

Happy Father's Day

I no longer think it's far out. I think that it happens all the time. Throughout history there have been zillions of times when aspects of a particular society is reflected in certain actions of either one person or a group of people. It happens so frequently that it barely gets noticed. And if, perchance it is noticed, it usually gets shouted down or called nonsense.
God has reasons for letting it happen, I daresay.

I've watched the whole season of that Aquarius show and it sucks worse than my posts.

For those who haven't seen it, just think of the last Helter Skelter TV movie, but even more boring and stretched out over 10 hours with an annoyingly ubiquitous OOOOO-EEEEE-OOOOO (something bad is gonna happen) music score, that seems to kick in every time Charlie is onscreen. And do you like dim lighting and bad acting? It's in abundance here. The majority of the show is focused on the David Duchovny character to the point of tedium. If your favorite part of "Breaking Bad" was Walt Jr., then you'll love this show.

I didn't realize that Charlie was such an effete hipster-type. I keep expecting him to whip out his iPhone to check his Tumblr account. I doubt that this sulky version of Manson would last a day in prison, much less 16+ years. Did the makers of this forget that Charlie was a hardened criminal at that point?

I won't spoil anything for anyone who hasn't seen all the episodes, but in all honesty I don't really think that there's anything to spoil. And if you're watching this for insight into the Manson family, do yourself a favor and watch something else, like Robert Hendrickson's "Manson" documentary.

Robert Hendrickson said...

YES Ziggy, it is BAD, BUT read Grimtravler above.

Acquarious is a MIRROR that reveals the worst in ALL of US.

That is what makes it hard to even look at.

Then go back and watch DAVID D. (the drunkard Cop) beat the Shit out of Manson - and while doing so - in your mind intercut the image of the front door to the Tate house.
