Don’t really know much about her. Perhaps someone can add or correct any of this..
Born Rosalie Jean Willis in 1937 in West Virginia. Grew up in McMechen where her father was a Coal Miner. Rosalie was 17 and waitressing at a hospital when she met Charlie. They married in January of 1955. She was pregnant with Charles Jr., when they drove across the country in a stolen Mercury in July of that year.
On October 15th, 1955, Manson was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with GTA. He had two Dyer Act charges against him. He received 5 years probation for one charge and skipped the hearing for the other. A warrant was issued and he was arrested in Indianapolis in March of 1956. Charlie was sentenced to 3 years at Terminal Island in San Pedro.
Rosalie gave birth to Charles Jr. after Charlie was sent away. She lived in Los Angeles with Charlie’s mother and visited him regularly throughout 1956. In March of 1957, Rosalie cut all ties with Charlie. Charlie’s mother had to inform Charlie that Rosalie was leaving to be with another man, reportedly a truck driver. Manson was served with divorce papers in 1958, before he was released from prison. Rosalie remarried that year and moved east.
By 1969, Rosalie - now Rosalie Jean White - was living in Cadiz, Ohio. In addition to Charles Jr., Rosalie had three more children with her new husband.
In an interview in 1971, Charlie's mother spoke about Rosalie, saying:
"I think the business with Rosalie really hurt Charles.I think Rose was the only woman he ever really loved, and from then on, he never respected women."
From 1978 to 1980 I lived in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and worked with Rosalie ("Rosy") at a Holiday Inn. She was a waitress, I was a cook. She was a wonderful, warm, friendly person. When I found out about her past with Charlie I was blown away. Their son, Charlie Jr. came to visit her and I met him several times before I knew about her past. His eyes scared the hell out me! They were just like his dads. When Rosy told me the story I damned near fell off of my chair. Jay, as he called himself then, was one the spookiest people I have ever met. I am sorry to hear of his suicide and of Rosy's passing. May they both rest in peace.
That was Jay White - better known as Charles Manson Jr. - Rosalie's son. He killed himself in Colorado in 1993.

ReplyDeleteYes thanks Cielo. I have always gotten Charlie's boys mixed up, name and order wise.
