Oh no you didn't, Cupid!

Here I am again, finding myself posting thoughts about things I know absolutely nothing about. There are so many more people out in TLB land that are so much more knowledgeable than I about anything, and everything TLB. With that in mind, please forgive me for repeating things that have already been studied, thought about, probed, researched, AND.....posted on other sites perhaps. What am I talking about, you ask? I am talking about an unidentified, young lady who was murdered, and dumped in/around the area Mr. Cupid was arrested. I started thinking about this while looking around the Jane Doe network website, and looking at Jane Doe 59. My eyes then came across this other young lady, and happen to notice the time frame, and the method of how she was killed. Could she have been a victim of Bobby Beausoleil? What would of been the purpose of him murdering a young woman? I do not think that he would of done such a thing, but you never know. Here are some of the facts:

1.) He killed Gary Hinman on July 27th of 69
2.) He was found, and arrested in the general vicinity, not close, by not far (over 50 miles)
3.) She was estimated to be killed on/around July 29th of 69
4.) She was found bound, stabbed repeatedly, and had her throat cut, which seemed to happen to quite a few people in the general vicinity of Manson's friends.

Here is the link from the Jane Doe Network:

Again, I know this is "old news" in TLB land, so please forgive me for bringing it up again. I am truly a TLB novice, so give me a chance to catch up with TLB virtuosos, such as Matt & the Col!

  1. One small thing to note - she was found in a quarry that mined diatomaceous earth (DE)- only found in very few places in Calif...DE was found on Bobby's boots when he was arrested...I have no idea if he was questioned or the outcome of this...

Sue Grafton wrote "Q is for Quarry" based on this case..

Although it is fiction, she had access to the the case notes, investigative reports, and was present during the exhumation in 2001 - the authorities did this so that a forensic artist could recreate her appearance and hope that someone would recognize her..

Jane Doe was reinterred on Feb. 26, 2002 at Lompoc Cemetary.

Sue also notes that in fact, "found at the scene a blood-soaked man's Western-style blue denim shirt with white-covered snaps, size 14 1/2 neck."

  2. Hi Kimchi...why Lompoc? That's way up the coast.

  4. Hi Ann, love your work and contributions. Is it possible that you may have confused Jane Doe 59 with another case? Jane Doe 59 was found off of Mulholland and Skyline Drive in LA County and Bobby was arrested about 200 miles away on Cuesta Grade in San Luis Obispo County. Here's a link to Jane Doe 59:

Warning: There is an autopsy photo that may not be suitable for some viewers.

    1. No, Doc, I was explaining that I was looking at the Jane Doe network, particularly the information about Jane Doe 59, when my eyes drifted down to ANOTHER Jane Doe, who is the one I posted about. I know about Jane Doe 59. This other Jane Doe is different. Both Jane Does had very similar injuries, however. It is very creepy!!

  5. @Doc - What Ann said was:

"I started thinking about this while looking around the Jane Doe network website, and looking at Jane Doe 59. My eyes then came across this other young lady"

Key words - "This Other Young Lady"

She wasn't stating this was #59 from what I read...

@Patty - It's been a long time since I studied this, but I think she was originally laid to rest in Lompoc because that's where they bury the indigent, non-claimed bodies, etc... and they just re-interred her there...(Santa Barb County)...by the way, Ms. Grafton paid for the exhumation, artist recreation, and reburial..just a bit of trivia :)

You guys should email Ms. Grafton - she does answer her emails, she did mine... she knows quite a bit about the case...she had access to all the case files and is a very nice lady!

  7. That blue denim shirt sounds like a welder's shirt to me. http://www.shoebuy.com/dickies-long-sleeve-denim-welder-shirt/635944/1301134?cm_mmc=googleproductads_pla-_-none-_-none-_-{keyword}

  8. I picture an old couple, now in their 80s if still alive, wondering what ever became of their runaway hippie daughter. So sad. Heartbreaking.

  9. orwhut, the blue denim work shirts, sometimes called chambray shirts were worn by many back then. Men and women alike. They were especially good to embroider on and they were cheap.

  10. Hi Ann, my bad on that one. Sometimes I read and comprehend and sometimes I just read.

  11. kimchi that western shirt sounds like something that could be found at a horse ranch.

  12. Doc - I've been scolded for my reading comprehension by the best of the best - Colonel Scott - I think he said it was "zilch" or something like that...

Beauders, that's what I thought too..

But why would someone be so stupid as to leave something like that behind?

If only that shirt was kept in a freezer (not) and they could get DNA from it now...sweat, etc...

I may be incorrect but I think they could still possible get DNA even if it wasn't frozen.

  14. That girl has a family out there, somewhere. It is horrible that she, and Jane Doe 59 haven't ever been identified. You would think that DNA would help to identify, and to help solve their murder. There were so many young people flocking to Southern California back then. Ya know, I find it amazing that NONE of Charlie's ex girls are willing to even send in an anonymous tip on any known murders. They don't want to implicate themselves, I guess.

  15. Statute of Limitations still apply to this murder?

  16. I don't think the statute of limitations ever expires for murder.
