Manson knew Rudy Altobell...Here's what I think.
Manson knew Rudy Altobelli was living in the guest house. (The two had a conversation there a few months earlier when Manson was looking for Terry Melcher.) So when Tex and the girls returned to Spahn's Ranch after the murders, Manson found out from them that nobody checked the guest house while they were on the property. This probably worried Manson greatly that someone in the guest house (maybe Altobelli) witnessed everything. So this probably prompted Manson to go to Cielo Drive himself to make sure there were no witnesses.PaulHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02965666446497527968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171370990642927748.post-64430222550626644622019-08-14T18:11:47.376-04:002019-08-14T18:11:47.376-04:00This story is pure made up junk. There are so many people that have mental health problems and 95% of the time, you'd probably never know it. Friends of mine, Members of my family and my wife's family have had and do have those issues to deal with and it's only because of the times I've seen particular people in specific episodes that I'd believe the stories that they had those problems. On the other hand, when there were those episodes, they was one unforgettable event.
I once went to see my friend in a psychiatric hospital and it was horrible, she couldn't even talk. She just couldn't get the words out. And one of the doctors came over and started talking to me about her situation. It turned out that he wasn't a doctor at all but one of the patients ! He was so knowledgeable and articulate but liked playing the part of a psychiatrist.
He could have been on TV.grimtravellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00025774296829848608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171370990642927748.post-42941208410500790572017-10-26T09:25:08.991-04:002017-10-26T09:25:08.991-04:00Max Frost said...

And even if he had 'alerted' a neighbour, what would or could he have said ?

Even worse, what will people say when they find out he could've told the cops so much more and perhaps the killers would've been apprehended sooner?

Imagine for a moment if he had said "I saw one woman chasing another woman on the lawn" or words to that effect, even if he hadn't seen any stabbing or even if he didn't know whether or not they were just partying 'beautiful people.' Then the Police would have had some inkling that at least one of the people they were looking for was possibly female. If that had gone out on the news and Sadie & co had caught that broadcast, who knows, they may have been a lot more wary during August 9th going into 10th. And a day or so later when Whitley & Guenther told Jess Buckles about Bobby Beausoleil's friends at Spahn being male & female, supposed hippies, which could mean barefoot types, given there were footprints at Cielo, that may have given the cops something to go on. Whiteley & Guenther were already wondering in that direction within a couple of days of Cielo.
But I do give Bill some slack on that because it's obvious he went through some serious trauma, dealing with seeing all those bodies, feeling guilt over Steve's and Abigail's deaths, seeing Winifred Chapman after supposing her dead, being suspected by the police of mass murder, including that of a pregnant woman, having seen the door handle of his house in an odd position etc. Some people would freak out after a ride on a particularly scary theme park ride, let alone the position BG found himself in on the 9th.grimtravellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00025774296829848608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171370990642927748.post-39940926880482286432017-10-26T09:24:13.825-04:002017-10-26T09:24:13.825-04:00Max Frost said...

Even if one accepts the story of being picked up, there's nothing explicitly stated there that indicates what was to actually take place later.

I questioned Rudi as to why he wouldn't have any interest in staying in touch with Bill just for old times' sake

Well, why would anyone want to be in touch with someone they'd barely known 30 years ago that they'd not shown any interest in tracking down ? 30 years is a long time to not be in contact with someone. And was the "old times sake" really thinking of Rudi Altobelli or TLB aficionados ?

grimtravellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00025774296829848608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171370990642927748.post-62280071055564425222017-10-24T03:15:22.458-04:002017-10-24T03:15:22.458-04:00time--minds--wear and tear--truth--distortiontime--minds--wear and tear--truth--distortionAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03271348805459794487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171370990642927748.post-35817179379069058652017-10-22T21:07:09.153-04:002017-10-22T21:07:09.153-04:00Max Frost said...
Yes, there certainly are legiti...Max Frost said...

Yes, there certainly are legitimate reasons for one changing their story that have nothing to do with honesty or credibility

I totally agree with this.
However, in the case of Bobby, as this was an example specifically mentioning him, one needs to consider not so much whether he has changed his story, but how many times, over how many years and more importantly, the content of the actual stories. He's had 18 hearings over a 38 year period and even allowing board member Anderson's rather biased display in the 2010 hearing, he really has not done himself any favours. Even ColScott had to conclude that he was a liar, based on his own dealings with him over some years. Changing a story isn't necessarily problematic. There are sometimes good reasons for it. I think Susan Atkins reasons for telling Howard and Graham that she stabbed Sharon Tate or her reasons for recanting her grand jury testimony are credible even if she herself isn't. Tex changed his story from the trial to when his book came out and he honestly admits why so his reasons are credible, even if he's not.
Bobby changing his story isn't the problem. It's him changing the story myriad times. This wears away credibility.grimtravellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00025774296829848608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171370990642927748.post-78423626950734162032017-10-11T16:57:23.577-04:002017-10-11T16:57:23.577-04:00Leave it to the great Max Frost to drop in a refer...
Leave it to the great Max Frost to drop in a reference to "S.F.W." in a Billy Garretson post. I accept that he may or may not have heard the front lawn part of the murders, but the remainder of the events until he was dragged-out at gunpoint the next morning simply don't compute. They are not logical. At least the scout-van theory has a basis (albeit strange) to what may have occurred later that night. But if the Tate house was under FBI surveillance, the murders would have been solved within 48 hours. It seems like Bill's very routine, domestic life in Ohio finally got the better of him over time and he played the only card he had that made him interesting .... the card of mass-murder survivor. Changing simple things like the availability of the telephone, and forgetting that Parent had successfully completed a phone call to Jerrold Friedman simply cannot be overlooked in the determination of fact-based clarity vs a kid who was spooked that night and remained so probably for the rest of his life.
Garretson is a wild-card in the case, and reality dictates that too much of what he has said over the years has been the ramblings of a mind that was lost to the void that night. In truth, he was a victim, too. No, Bill was neither...Matt, Humph, and Starship...

No, Bill was neither retarded nor was he nuts. Rosie was indeed nuts which is easy to determine being that her idea of a get-rich-quick scheme was to set out to convince the world she was Sharon's baby even though the post-mortem photos clearly show a very pregnant Sharon. It could also be said she was just a deranged opportunist. I did talk to her on the phone that one time and all I can say is... she played the part very well. So the question is did she actually believe what she was saying?

I never got anything even remotely close to 'crazy vibes' when talking to Bill. If anything he probably got crazy vibes from me in the beginning, seeing as I was the one hounding him for whatever insight he had yet to offer...

In fact, the friend I hitchhiked with who spent the night at his place had only spoken to him on the phone a couple times briefly during the time leading up to us finally hitting the road. Bill told him when they hung out how he had referred to US as "the California Crazies" when he would tell his brother about us calling him.

Like I said in the article, he was very normal by societies standards. He was more like a good ol' boy than anything else. Just a normal, mild-mannered small town boy with a good upbringing. He didn't talk crazy at all and he was always somewhat guarded and very much in the moment when it came to conversation. He drove truck for a local grocery distributor, which means he wasn't a long-haul trucker. It wasn't a fall asleep at the wheel type of job. He had to be on his toes and sane enough to maintain that position satisfactorily for as long as he did - which I believe was a number of decades.

He was very normal which is why the whole Rosie thing caught me totally off guard and was so shocking.Max Frosthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06931165830559683001noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8171370990642927748.post-81196814631425896902017-10-07T12:06:00.933-04:002017-10-07T12:06:00.933-04:00you're right trix: 1 - purple scarf (G16)
