Fillipo Tennerelli

Another possible Manson slaying in the Eastern Sierra, was a man named Fillipo Tennerelli. Tennerelli was found dead in a hotel in Bishop in October of 1969 of a shotgun blast to the head. The death was ruled a suicide at the time, but some highway patrol officers became suspicious of the official cause of death when weeks after the death of Tennerelli, they found his car over the edge of Father Crowley Point, in the Panamint Valley and on the way to Barker Ranch. CHP reports from 1969 say that officers found “quite a bit of blood inside the vehicle.” More blood was found on the outside of the Volkswagon, leading investigating officers to suspect foul play.

  1. This one smells of Bruce Davis to me. Watson was in hunkered down at Barker, but Bruce was in between trips to London and he emerged only sparingly.

  2. I know nothing specific other than what I just read here but if the Tennerelli murder had occurred in october 68 I would flatly rule out any Family participation since they were peaceful at that time. However in October 69 the Family had descended into violence. That alone doesn't make them his killer but because a shotgun was used I'd pick Clem over Bruce as the shooter. I tend not to believe the "Bruce did it" stories though. The tip Patti Tate was told can not be proved or disproved. Somehow though, I don't suspect them for this murder. Back in 69 I would suspect them of anything and everything. They did a lot to earm any accusations of murder that was thrown at them. It isn't even known if there was a link between the Family and Tennerelli much less a drug link. Family members and friends of Family members spewed falsehoods like everyone else did back then. Some accusation were lies to incite fear into the public and some falsehoods were just the loud mouth babblings of fools who were around the Family at that time. This case will never be solved due to no hard evidence to pinpoint any one person.

  3. Were they really peaceful at that time Poirot, or did they just not get caught?

  4. Charlie had not heard the white album in Oct 68 thus he was not presching his violent helter skelter. The Family was peaceful. There were no murders to get caught with.

October 1969 is another world. Manson is full swing into his helter skelter, kill piggie insanity. The Family is now a violent blood-letting bunch of maniacs with at least a dozen seriel murders to their credit. Charlie is feared by all who know him.

  5. Yes that's the story, but it's all just too...well...tidy. Patty will always wonder if Tenerelli is one of the "bodies in the desert."

  6. The buried bodies and murders in the desert mystery!!!!!!!!!!

    There's a movie there somewhere.

I remember years ago a movie about a seriel killer in the desert who was a motorcycle cop. One scene had the killer walking up behind a guy fixing a flat on a lonely desert highway and startling him. How to you sneak up behind someone if you ride up on a Harley?

My 409 by the beach boys.

Does anybody remember a song called "My SS396" ? I had the 45 record but I can find nothing about it on youtube. I don't remember who sang it.

Here's The Beach Boys again. Acapella. Tell me these guys can't sing better than anyone else. They were Americana. America was a fun and great country once.

In this youtube you can tell the beach boys knew exactly what they were doing. Look how simply they explain their magic. They were musical geniuses.

Then the hippies came and Charlie happened.

My favorite Beach Boys tune: Barbara Anne.

I 1st heard this song driving to jr college in Charleston SC. I was crossing the giant bridge over the harbor at 7:30 am in a ghastly winter storm. Some fuckhead wrecked so traffic was stopped. I was at the very top of the giant bridge as it shook in the mighty wind. I thought to myself that this bridge is too old to hold all this traffic and take this wind too. I was scared that I'd fall 195 feet into the ocean and die this horrible winter morning. Suddenly this song came on my radio in my Chevy. It made everything alright.

In the words of Gilda Radner: never mind.

shea. he was also a gypsy joker. the lets blame every murder in california on bruce davis began when bill nelson discovered him and decided he just had to be the zodiac killer. i have studied both cases and believe me there is no way davis is the zodiac or is any manson family man either. i think that some of ted bundy's murders got blamed on zodiac or zodiac actually took credit for them. bill nelson tainted everything he touched, not anything he said can be believed without cooberation. he even misled his wife for 20+ years about being a pedophile. his wife only found out about his pedophilia when someone in the manson research area hated him enough to check his police records. he tried to buy his way out of the information getting out but there were no takers.i believe someone just sent his wife his police file as proof--very cold but effective, his wife kicked him out, then his diabetes plus it's complications got so bad it killed him. his manson witchhunt basically cost him his life.

  15. From Giovanni Di Stefano's site:

Olancha is a very small town. Gas Station, Store and one restaurant. About 500 people scattered over many square miles on ranches. It was not local kids. The Hannum Ranch is in Olancha. David Hannum worked at the Spahn Ranch in 1969 and the family used his mother's ranch in Olancha to park a semi trailer full of supplies and use it as a base.

  16. Poirot, you are a freaking NUT CASE. But Patty loves you anyhow.

  17. Bishop is way up north from Olancha, but his car was dumped on the way back down between Bishop & Olancha. The geography doesn't make sense unless they (the Family) were certain of his whereabouts that day and knew he was holding. I'm doubtful that this was family related.

  18. Interesting his car was dumped in Death Valley though, no?

  19. Patty, my impression is that Father Crowley Point is outside of DV. It is a scenic overlook to the Panamints, right?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Crowley Point is on the 190 just west of Panamint Springs. After the Point which is up at like 6 or 7,000 feet, you drop REALLY quickly (like, ear poppingly quickly) into a valley that is the pass through the northern and southern parts of the Panamints. If you were driving from Bishop to Barker Ranch there is very good chance that you'd pass by there unless you took Big Pine Road which is much, much longer and bumpier. Big Pine Road is the road that Mr. Patty prefers, BTW.

  21. So they WOULD have passed right by Barker on the way to Crowley Point! That's a hell of a long way to drive a car that cops would/should have been looking for. Stupid, in fact.

  24. as hated and fucked up as he wasNelson was a very important figure in the research of this case and what surrounds it. He was underhanded, a liar, a sneak, and a diddler, but as far as Manson Behind The Scenes. It was invaluable (typos, mispellings and all) He was finding and outing, for better or worse, family members long before this and most other blogs were giving us the great info we get today. Plus he really fucked up Tex's little games. He was just as, if not more obsessed with this case then any of us.
    Typo's and all,
    Andy
