Deirdre Lansbury

[Nancy Pitman] was first introduced to Charles Manson and the family through her friend Deirdre Lansbury, daughter of the famous actress Angela Lansbury. Deirdre hung out with the family from time to time, and even had a note from her mother stating it was ok for her to travel with them.

[Deirdre] is experiencing a happy life with her Italian husband Enzo Battarra; they have been the managers of the delightful Ristorante Positano in the Los Angeles area (closed in the year 2005) and, since 19 December 2005, of the Enzo and Angela - The Italian Restaurant.

  1. Substitute a buck knife for that rolling pin and I could almost see her walking up the driveway at 10050 Cielo Drive.

  2. It's funny, I saw her last night (I won't say where). She wears glasses and her hair still looks the same.

  3. She's an attractive lady. Doesn't look very pretentious, either.

  4. I understand that after Angela learned what the kids had been getting into she moved them to Ireland and they straightened up nicely.

  5. I think it may also have had to do with a fire that razed their house.

  6. I find so strange that all these Manson family members have some direct/indirect contact to famous people.

  7. Matt,
I'd forgotten about or missed the part about the fire but, I ran across a message where you mentioned being a Cradle Catholic and thought about the Landsburies moving to Ireland. Maybe the strong church influence there helped set them straight.

I've noticed that too, and think that with the family being large the odds are that they would have met some famous people in Los Angeles. They may have even cultivated them to help Charlie get a record deal.

  9. Hanging out at Dennis Wilson's house didn't hurt, famous people wise.

  10. I wonder if she was one of the girls that was there when Paul first met the family.

My other half said he could have had any girl he wanted. I guess it's good that I got to her first.

  14. In there Gail Zappa said that the few people around who had not had their senses dulled by drugs, which included Frank and herself, considered the mansonites dangerous.

  15. I read the free online sample of Laurel Canyon the other day. It was enough to satisfy my curiosity.

  16. I'm not trying to advance any conspiracy theory but, the link below leads to a story about Laurel Canyon that I found interesting. According to it's title, it's mostly true.

LOL I wonder if she still carries her permission note, just in case.

  19. Hey does anyone know what happened to St. Circumstance?

  20. Interesting Again, To me Angela Lansburry is only known as the ,,Murder She Wrote,, actress.
The words Gail&Frank Zappa said about the Mansonites considered dangerous, I did read before in a Zappa Story. The History of L.Canyon & Hippies I stumbled upon a few years ago, and that was a 10 or more part, along with a lot of photographs and inside info. It was not the Illuminati-Website, but I think it was named something like ,Informing America, I do have the URL stored somewhere and if I can find it back I post it. Now I have another question : Now this articles saying the Birth of the Hippies in Laurel-Canyon in LA. But me is an outsider-europian always thought and have read that the hippie movement was ,born, in San Fransisco. So whats up with this statement ?? Am I wrong ??

  21. Hellsbellz,
You are correct, the story is also available from the Center for an Informed America and I think, from several other sites. When I read it a few weeks ago what fascinated me was the connections between various people mentioned like Jim Morrison's dad having been involved in the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. I'm not smart enough to figure out all the conspiracies mentioned and how many of them really exist.
As for where the hippie movement started, your information is as probably, as good as mine. Hippies gravitated to San Francisco but I don't know that they started there. To me, the title of the story referred to Laurel Canyon's contributions to the birth of the hippie generation rather than claiming that it was the exact origin of the movement.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hippiechick40,
    Can you help us out?
Was the hippie movement born in San Francisco?

  23. I think she looks a little like Leslie in the rolling pin photo. Anyway, sounds like she was strictly pre-murder Family, but that doesn't mean she wasn't sucking off bikers, dumpster diving and creepy crawling ;-)

Matt, you mentioned their house being in a fire- care to elaborate?

I don't know any more about it. In accounts of A.L.'s life it mentions their Malibu home burning in September of 1970. After which she moved with her children to Europe for a while.

  25. Known as Di Di or Dee Dee, don't know which spelling is correct. Barb Hoyt testified that she was picked up by Di Di and Stephanie Rowe on 4/1/69 in the VW van in Canoga Park and taken to the Gresham St. house. Read somewhere else that she was turned off by something that she witnessed in an orgy ( it appears that she had some fun ) and left the group.

    ReplyDelete
  26. orwhut, let me help you: everything that would be of any substance in that Laurel Canyon illuminati thing is bullshit.

As for DiDi Lansbury, I wish she'd write a book. Perhaps once her mother has departed...not that I wish for that, mind you.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I too wish she would write something.

The quote from Gail Zappa about the Mansonites is something she did say.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm amazed that ol' Frank never wrote a song taking the piss out of the Manson Family. Lord knows, everyone else from that era came under attack!!

  29. Probably to scared to.

  30. Hellzbells,
I went back and reread the first page and it does indeed say that "the ‘hippie/flower child’ movement will be given birth there", so I'm confused too. Where's that Hippiechick40 when we need her wisdom?

  31. Starship,
Thank you for your help. I'm puzzled by the stated connections of so many Laurel Canyon musicians to high ranking members of the military. Do you think this was exaggerated?
The draft was in effect around the time of the musicians births but their fathers seem to have been career soldiers.

  32. The story of Jim Morrison's father is true. His father lived in Chula Vista, which is near me. I contracted work with him. There were pictures of Jim in the house. All he had to say about Jim was that he was worthless and that's all he would say.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wow,Ken! You worked with Jim Morrison's father. There must be something to that degrees of separation thing.

    ReplyDelete
  34. It certainly doesn't appear that the Admiral thought that Jim's money was worthless since he spent two years fighting Pam Courson for it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dee Dee writing a book! Aren't there already 140 odd Manson books? Didn't I read recently that Charlie's grandson, who never met Manson and had little to do with his own father, is coming out with a book.
Why does everyone even remotely connected with TLB, and who has maybe 15 minutes of interesting info, think they should write a book?
Now if Ken or Beauders or Brownrice or such was coming out with a book, that would excite me.
But really, other than some sexcapades insight, what could Dee Dee possibly add to the story?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I didn't work with him, I did a small project on his property.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Leary,

I don't know shit compared to beauders or enough to write a book.

    ReplyDelete
  38. if you say so, but I've always been a fan of your perspectives.
Sometimes it isn't the totality of info you have, but being able to interpret and paint a picture. You do have that talent.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @Ken , I do agree with Leary7 on that, the reason also to ,,Woot-Woot,, when said you be gone.
@Orwhut, yes you right, I did find the URL back and it was ,The Center for an informed America. Went back to it and now they are on Part 18 or so...About the Laurel-Canyon Hippie movement. I do agree with Starship too from what he sayd about the Illuminatie,Conspiracy Site. The problem with sites like that is:They always twist the story so it fits their truth..Conspiracy Truth. There are a few Manson Sites outthere too,and sometimes it fits the state of Paranoia, with the most bizarre and rediculous statements and theory's. I dont think its a strange thing so many parents of the 60musicians were envolved in the Militairy/US Army. They were all born just before, during,or just after WW-2. There were a LOT of Militair/Army people needed during that era. It was not uncommon to move from place/base to place/base across the whole US. Kids and Youngsters just dont like to move everytime, another school(again)other friends(again)leaving people behind(again)...I think 1 of the reasons they became just a little more rebelious than other Kids/Young Adults.

  40. I just visited the Cielo Drive site for the first time. Interesting place. Two reactions...
First, from the photos, I never cease to be amazed at how flat chested the Manson girls were as a whole. I'm not sure there was a B cup amongst the whole bunch.
And one thing I never got was when they issued a bench warrent for Ouisch after the LSD Hoyt caper, the DA office decided it wasn't "worth the effort to extradite her" from Nevada. Here's a person who told Hoyt she knew of ten murders besides the TLB ones and who tried to poison/kill Hoyt and it's decided she isn't "worth the effort"??? I know the other trials cost tons of money, but still. Maybe the DA decided because Ruth Ann was the cutest of em all to let her walk. That is one fortunate bitch. If I were Hoyt I'd still be pissed.
Now that would be a great 'reality show' - "Manson Encounters". Hoyt tracking down Ruth Ann and confronting her. I'd watch that. Or Sandy knocking on Linda's door. Or others.

  41. I'm guessing Sadie's tits were about a D cup.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Glad I could contribute to the discussion.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I forgot about Sadie. But I'd bet a C cup during her Spahn life. Maybe a D later on. Regardless, she loses a cup size in my eyes due to the mustache.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Her juicy knockers were God's way of drawing your attention away from her moustache.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Looking at Atkins Moustache, I cant help make me thinking about other Hairy places on the Body....And the ,Perfect Hygiene, at Spahn or Barkers those Days....Bwehhhhhh!!

  46. Hey Leary, did you get up the drive-way? I've been there a couple of times. The last time, the gates were closed at the bottom of the hill. The first time, I got to go up the drive-way to where the Tate property was and they were finishing up the gates to the property. I got about as far as where Parent's car was stopped, before I was ran off.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Did Sadie have the mustache before she was locked up or was she denied tweezers in prison?

    ReplyDelete
  48. never been Ken. I am dreaming of doing all the sites if Charlie has a funeral to attend. Make a whole freak show adventure of it. You'd be a great guide, you should put a package together for when the Evil One kicks it.
I do believe Sadie's Moustache (good name for a band, I can never spell mustache) was there from the start.

  49. Since we were talking about people twisting facts to fit their 'truth', do any of you buy Mary Terry's theorys about Son of Sam and a Manson connection?

  52. This thread proves my feeling that it's all about the girls. No one cares about bloody murder or a bunch of opportunistic and very stupid males. The girls are very interesting though.

    ReplyDelete
  53. oh man, that is funny Ken. I couldn't figure out why you were asking me about the driveway either. a double duh.

    ReplyDelete
  54. yeah, I agree wholeheartedly Max. It's the girls that give the tale panache and glitz and just make it interesting. Otherwise it is just a tale of assholes. Charlie without the girls is like OJ without football. Or the Naked Gun movies.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I thought he was talking about the site where the house stood too. Then I realized there were no photos of the girls at the house site.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Actually, Beauders has mentioned that she wrote a 1600+ page book on the subject.

Beauders - did you publish it? Can we read it?

    ReplyDelete
  57. 1600? That could keep us all very busy for a while. How much? I'll buy it.

    ReplyDelete
  58. No, orwhut, Maury Terry has nothing but an overactive imagination.

I know all that stuff is fascinating to contemplate, but the truth is the Manson thing is a conspiracy...not a CONSPIRACY in the greater sense that the whole world is controlled by seven old white guys in a room.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Starship, have fun at the Jets game. We gotta win and have 3 teams lose but I'm forever optimistic!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Starship,
Thanks again for your input. I read Terry's book many years ago and waited for the powers that be to take action. When no arrest were made, I began to suspect Terry's conclusions but, it did make fascinating reading. Next I suppose someone is going to tell me the moon landings were real and pro wrestling is fake-:-)

Poor Jim. He had problems with the law, his father said he's worthless, and now somebody's set fire to his house.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Jim is buried at Pere-Lachaise cemetery in Paris. I've been to his grave a few times. There are royalty, aristocrats, poets, composers, statesmen and all sorts of French society people from across the centuries buried there.

    And then there's Jim.

He gets a CONSTANT flow of visitors - more than anyone else there. His visitors have no problem defacing other stones and tombs. They will carve things like "Mr Mojo Risin --->" on Chopin's tomb... just so you won't get lost looking for Jim.

When you finally get ti Jim's grave you'll notice that he is the ONLY one out of the many thousands that has a 24 hour guard. They have to to keep his fans from causing trouble.

I got talking to one of those armed guards. He said the city of Paris was considering moving him out of the cemetery. He's just too much trouble.

    LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  65. @Matt, Nice you've been to Pere-Lachaise, verry impressing cemetery. Been there myself 3 times, for me its not so far to take a weekend trip to Paris. They stole Jim's Head-Stone years ago. And as you said its a kinda ,Mekka, to people all around the world. What you say about the plan of ,moving, Jim is also years old. But it never is been done, I dont know French Law but there is a Bigg chance it isnt even possible ,I did read. Bad news His house burned down,..sad. But in the other way Matt you right Jim STILL has a part here in This World keeping Him kinda....Alive!!
Have a Great NewyearsParty tonight !!

  66. I fear I have beaten this to death, but I still have a gut feeling Charlie will be checkin out in 2012. I am just really curious where, or obviously if, he will be buried somewhere. Most think he will be cremated but I think if he had a choice, being a total narcissist he will continue to want people to visit and worship him. But what cemetary in its right mind would take him?
Maybe some old run down semi-abandoned graveyard out in Death Valley.
Does anyone know, as a 'lifer'. does Manson even have a say or choice in it?
