  2. A drugged out nobody who left his as young as 3 year old children with a bunch of druggies on a ranch to eat worms while he worked to help release some mass murderers? Yeah I am very fucking sorry for his loss.

In real life finding "Jesus" sleeping on your kitchen stove doesn't forgive the unforgiveable, as Mr. Charles Denton Watson and Susan Denise Atkins found out the hard way.

  3. People can change, Col. I think his conversion was real, even though it was an extreme jump to the other end of the continuum. He must have had some void that could only be filled by something other than his family.

As I understand it his wife & children more than forgave him.

I wish the ones who went on to careers & normal lives would speak up. Their accounts would be quite fascinating. Preaching doesn't resonate with me.

  4. He's baaa-aaaack...

Patty is not big on preaching either, Suze. However when Dennis says "Hope is real," Patty likes that a lot.

  5. I agree with the Col.'s sentiments on this one. That picture of Rice's young daughter, in raggedy clothes with incredibly deep dark circles under her eyes just sickens and infuriates me. Her eyes in that photo have a wordliness and weariness that you usually see in a, well, woman my age (50). I don't really believe redemption applies to pimping out your kids to the likes of Clem.

  6. Well, Trilby, that's the story we have always been told, anyway.

on another note, Thank you Colonel for reminding us that today is "THAT" day. Nicely stated.

  7. "That" day is a big one. Beside the horrific Tate murders:
    1995 - Jerry Garcia Dies
    1945 - Nagasaki
1974 - Ford becomes Pres. after resignation
378 - Goths defeat Rome at Adrianople

  8. Shit Patty had forgotten that about Garcia (Mr. Patty likely has not).

And she wishes she'd been there to see the goths kick ass. They probably looked fabulous while doing it.

@William, sorry re: no big tribute this year. Besides, the Colonel said it so good, there's not much more to say.

  15. I went to El Coyote last night, then up to the Tate house, said a prayer than came home....saw a few people walking up the road. It was cool how the people I saw were of all ages.

  19. I couldn't get to LA this year on the dates, but about every other year I try to arrange my schedule to be down there. I trapse up Cielo, have a little silent moment, and leave.

  21. @Patty--
I was with some friends and one of them knows David Oman(not sure if that's how you spell it)and after EL Coyote we ended up stopping by his house. A bunch of people were doing paranormal investigations, but I'm not into that at all. We actually left after about 15 minutes.
