- aka 'chicks with .....' (sorry, couldn't resist :)
By virtue hindsight...
Looking at these M girls trying to look 'viscious' as they pander afore the camera, the term 'amateurs who imagine themself 'expert' comes to mind.
To wit, reminds me of Daria's line in 'Zabriskie Point' wherein she is surrounded by an small gang of half pints in pursuit of (as they asked her politely for, "a piece of ...")
To which she replies "do you think you'd know what to do with it?"
Which is to say while dead is dead (and they were certainly guilty by way association & proximity), none of the M Family women are renowned for having been very proficient as a 'killing machine' as was Tex for comparison sake. Knife blades that bent, blind thrusts punctured sofa more so intended victim, etc...
Not that I wouldn't sleep with one eye open had I to share an boudoir with them - just on principle alone (not so unlike a Messieur Watkins, Poston & Crockett the night desert they discovered Charlie et al were trying to creepy crawl the trio's humble abode.)
Sharon is holding a 8mm German Mauser rifle with a sport stock which is basically the military stock with a cut down stock. The Mauser bolt action design is still in production today in sporting rifles. Old Mausers are still used today by 3rd world armies.
Ive never been able to figure out what pistol she is holding but it is a semiauto pistol not a revolver. It may be a HiStandard 22 caliber pistol but not positive.
When I first saw Sandy staring into the camera wearing that buckskin, caressing that gun and talking about killing then going to the desert I remember thinking to myself, "she's so nuts that it arouses me".
I suppose it is the assumption that if a woman is crazy in the head she will be crazy in bed. caveman thinking, for sure, but personally I have found it to be fairly accurate.
Really, Leary?Men love crazy women and this is why? Wow, I'd have thought crazy women come with lots of baggage. And I agree with 1900, those girls were no use at killing. They were squeamish. Rosemary was tied and hooded and possibly attached to a lamp but the two girls still couldn't do it. I often wonder about that sequence of events. The story is that Charlie tied them: impossible, unless Tex went with him and held the gun on them. Such a crucial detail! Did Watson go? And once they were tied, ok, Tex set about Leno. But Rosemary: How did she end up in the bedroom? Who hooded her, who tied her to the lamp? Leslie said she was swinging it and that she had a pillowcase on her head. If so, she must have had a hand free, why not pull off the pillowcase, instead of swinging blindly? Makes no sense. So was she hooded after death? And why tie her to the lamp?
This whole thing has never made sense. The recollections are too confused. One report said that the pillowcase was on her head and the lamp cord wrapped over it. So how did that happen? Who did that? Charlie tied them on the sofa with his leather thong. I think it was still round Rosemary's hands. So how could she swing the lamp? But if that was all done after death, why? It seems a strange thing to do. Leno was pillow-cased too. Why? Did this send a message of some kind? Just to emphasize horror?
The more I think about it, the more it seems to mean something.
maybe love is the wrong word, Fiona. But they, I mean we, certainly lust em. there is no cryin in baseball, and no baggage in bed. I slept around allot in my youth caus I was fascinated by the song - the cry of pleasure. Everyone's is different. And crazy chicks sure can sing. I was never interested in the Olivia Newton John song. I was more a Janis fan.
Panamint Patty's young sex life was extremely repressed. Raised a strict Lutheran, she was told "no one is going to want to buy the cow if they are getting the milk for free" by her mother, who saved it for her wedding night in 1967.
This made Patty a bit of an anomaly among her circle of friends who referred to her as "the uptight one." Some days she wishes she'd gone for it; other days, she realizes she might not be here today if she had.
I mean, she was DEFINITELY crazy, so probably woulda been pretty good! LOL
Patty, the revenge may be yours in the end. Thanks to Facebook I've caught up with some of the crazy chicks from my youth. They haven't held up well. Think of Cappy here...
i'm a crazy bitch and ~ the first to admit it. anyone that talks to me off the blog will tell you. i only come with a small amount of baggage. tons of skeletons though.
Me, I like bad girls and I always have. Nobody really understands what goes on in that mind of theirs. Is it really a mind or just a bee kind of buzzing around in a jar?
Panamint Patty said... Liz, now we have to go prowl Matt's fb page and try and guess which ones got down with the Mattmeister. Wonder if he'll tell us we are right?
if they turned into trolls i don't think he would have them on his FB.
Nothing personal, but you are very confused. Yes the devil is in the details, but you have the details all screwed up. Just a gentle suggestion: please go back and study some more, it will pay off in the end.
If you watch Squeaky in the Hendrickson film while she is playing with the pump action shotgun you can see that she clumsily operates the gun. She's obviously not a practiced user of guns. This is why Pres Ford was not assassinated. The bullet that would have killed Ford was accidentally ejected by Squeaky before she left her apartment that morning in 1975. Police found the bullet on the floor. She definantly intended to kill Ford but she failed to realize she didn't have the pistol's chamber loaded.Manny tried to tell her the pistol was too complicated for her to handle. He wanted her to use a revolver due to the revolver's simplicity. Fortunantly Squeaky didn't listen to Manny. Somehow Manny had no clue Squeaky was planning an assassination. Would you be dumb enough to lend Squeaky a gun? I never understood how Manny escaped prosecution for knowingly arming a Manson Girl.
Manny owned a gun used in an assassination attempt on a US president. That could be conscrued as conspiracy.
But besides that Manny knew better than anyone that Squeaky had a criminal record and had been writing threat letters to CEOs. She was one of the crazier Manson girls whose best friend was the psychotic Sandra Good. He knew she had been charged previously as being an accessory to murder in the Willet murders. It was truly foolish to loan her a gun at all. What did Manny think Squeaky would do with the gun? Did he believe she'd act responsibly with it? LOL!
Josh Brevin's book made it sound like she kinda hoodwinked him and he went along with it because she was givin' him the good stuff. I think he even asked for it back once or twice before the attempt because he realized that he had goofed.
If Leslie is wrong and Rosemary was tied, who hooded her and who wrapped the lamp cord round her neck? Why do that? She was stabbed to death, not strangled. Was it Tex? When? Just more of his make it gruesome stuff? Maybe that's all. Maybe not.
Where did Rosemary's money come from? She left a huge estate, four times what Abigail left and Abigail was heiress to the Folger coffee fortune.
That is suspicious, too. Where did Abby's money go? Did Voyteck run through it all? Did the cops trace this money? They were sure it was a drug killing at first, but Bugliosi, once he hit his HS stride, never contemplated anything else. These questions have not been raised.
Rosemary ran a dress shop with a partner. Could that have her made so much richer than a socialite heiress? Rumours here and there say she dealt acid. Not to be dismissed. I can point right now to several people who are utter drug fiends yet have totally respectable faces.
The devil is not in the details, Pritash. The answer is. It is in questions that have not been asked because the evidence hasn't been minutely evaluated and re-cast. It is in the fact that Manson directed Linda to that house, that Manson had been to the Tate house, so had Tex, so had Dean Moorehouse and God knows who else, in the fact that Abby was not surprised to see a scrawny dirty meth-head walk past her bedroom door after midnight (who in the hell did she think Susan was? What does that say about that house?), that the neighbours were accustomed to having very shady people get lost and require re-directing to the Polanski residence, and many many more little things. Joan Didion remarked in her book The White Album, that in the late sixties, the world of Hollywood and the underworld had become dangerously mixed. The rich and groovy wanted drugs. They needed shady contacts. Scary people would just walk right in, getting more confident as the times became more crazy. Didion says she walked into her hall and encountered one such stranger: asking him what he wanted, he stared at her for a long time, then seeing her husband, he finally said: "Chicken Delight?" but they had not ordered any. She took his licence plate and found she always seemed to be writing down the numbers of dodgy vehicles. There were bad types circling around. It was coming and when the news about Sharon broke: "I remember this and wish I did not: I remember that no-one was surprised."
There are dodgy connections between Manson and the victims and they have not come out, almost certainly because Charlie is the only one who knows what they are. In fact, I believe he has said it already: in many interviews, he says "I don't snitch". You know how he is, he rambles and goes on and you don't follow it because it seems like rubbish and you're not on acid. But if you listen closely, he drops clues, and that is one of them. "I don't snitch" on whom, Charlie? He also says "I don't lie" but lying in order not to snitch is not lying in the convicts code.
Whoever it is, and whatever it is, there is sufficient evidence to prove that the killings were not at all random, and that the LaBiancas probably knew Charlie.
Here's one more thing: Charlie is brutally scathing about the hypocrisy and the immorality of Hollywood and the rich and famous lifestyle. He also told Ron Reagan Junior that Leno was killed for a little black book. I have never heard him mention that again.
Pritash, I just re-read my post and no details are screwed up. I am repeating what I read in Helter Skelter and in the parole hearings that were on Bret's site. My entire point is that this is confused. It is extremely unclear. Rosemary was found hooded with a pillowcase and a lamp cord round her neck. Also her hands tied with leather thong.
But Leslie said Rosemary was holding that lamp and swinging it at them. How, with tied hands? Either Leslie is right or wrong. She was there, after all, but traumatised. If Rosemary could swing a lamp, she could pull the hood off. So, who arranged this death scene? What do you think happened, Pritash? Perhaps you can enlighten my 'confusion'. What happened to Charlie's leather thong? If you can't see the importance of this.... If Rosemary could swing that lamp, She Wasn't Tied Up. Was she? And that would mean she didn't resist Manson when he tied her husband, even though he would have had to put down the gun. And that she sat passively waiting while Manson went out to get the others. This part all depends on whether Tex went in with him or not. Assume he didn't and the not-tied Rosemary did not do anything. And that implies she Knew Charlie..
in an interview/lecture robert hendrickson said that manson confided certain things to him but asked him not to repeat these confidences until manson was dead. lets hope this is true and that hendrickson will repeat what he heard.

I think the girls escorted RoseMary to her bedroom so she would not see Leno being killed.
one of the girls put the pillow case over her head.
i think RoseMarys hands were tied by charlie when he entered the house alone (or with Tex) i might be wrong. that might be why she was swinging the lamps. i think RoseMary started freaking out and fighting when she heard Leno being killed.
Leno i think was hooded after death. ust like the knife in his throat.
Liz, I am not making it clear. Charlie is said to have tied her hands. Leslie said she was swinging a lamp at them. How can you swing a lamp if Charlie has tied your hands? It was a big lamp. There is just something amiss here, either with recollection or with story. And after it was done, putting the lamp around her neck is really horrible. The evidence seemed to say that was done before death: there was a pool of blood indicating she had tried to crawl while dragging it. It is unclear. the stories don't add up.

Love Liz' ironic juxtaposition of the Manson girls w/ Sharon Tate. I think we are supposed to imagine that she's not wearing panties, either. Ugh.
Sharon is holding a 8mm German Mauser rifle with a sport stock which is basically the military stock with a cut down stock. The Mauser bolt action design is still in production today in sporting rifles. Old Mausers are still used today by 3rd world armies.

Did you guys read the Gypsy poem? Man waiting in line at post office, getting hot over her wanted poster. I loved it...so so, true.
@Patty - they're better in bed!
Stupid question. Honestly...
I have to agree with you Matt. This is probably the ONLY time Squeaky put a Chuuby in the Chinos for me.
I think we need to be very careful though, by the same note that would make Liz a Goddess!

The lamp cord is what was used to tie her up so if she was struggling, I'd imaging the lamp would be swinging around pretty wildly. (?)
