Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids posters
I don't think I have much to say about these posters, except they are from "Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids" circa 1991-1994. Just to add, I think it is sick of entertainers to use murder victims in their advertisements to sell tickets. Even more sick is the thought of Tex Watson "preaching" against Marilyn Manson music, because it is "evil!" What is worse? Don't know. Just don't know.......

I wouldn't swear on it but I'd bet money that Marilyn Manson was not only picked on but received a swirlie or two in Jr High. Chuck has a nice rack in the picture 3rd from the top.....
Agreed AustinAnn. I can see using Squeaky, Sandy & Scoobie, but using ST's likeness is a sick reach.
I think the sickest, most vile thing I've ever seen is the rave flyer I saw on Bing using Sharon Tate's crime scene photo with the rope around her neck, and her eyes half way open, drenched in blood. It is horrible!!
Jim Carroll, the guy who's autobiography was made into a movie called "Basketball Diaries" had a song on his 1980 album, Catholic Boy called "It's Too Late". In the lyrics it says "It's too late, to fall in love with Sharon Tate". I was in my late teens when it came out and I thought it completely tasteless.....
Sometimes the line between EXPLOITATION and HOMAGE is very fine, and then, sometimes it's NOT.
AND sometimes the line is BLURRED - intentionally.
Has anyone else seen the rave flyer I was talking about? Maybe it isn't a rave flyer, but to me it looks like one. I used to go to a lot of raves back in the 90's, so I know they used to have a lot far-out graphics on them. Ugh. I shutter thinking about it.

At the time I thought Jim Carroll's line about Sharon Tate was more of a sweet homage rather than exploitation. I guess I still feel that way.
Death was a club motif back in the early 90s, people would get all bloodied up, take a bunch of drugs and dance all night. Michael Alig who was just released from prison took the whole thing a bit too far when he cut his drug dealer into tiny pieces. MacCaulay Culkin plays Alig in the movie "Party Monster", and word on the street is that they are real life buddies.
Anyhoo, this is a really insensitive thing to do in the name of fashion.
Patty nearly forgot that Marilyn Manson is actually IN Party Monster as a transsexual club kid.

Jim Carroll plays that song live in the movie "Tuff Turf."
Some of Spooky Kids' songs had samples of Manson in them, as well. Let Your Ego Die, Lucy In The Sky With Demons, and of course MM covered Charlie. MM song My Monkey is basically Mechanical Man lyrics and spoken Manson quotes. MM also did Sick City.

I remember when that album came out. The song "People Who Died" was really popular among my group of friends. A band I was in at the time talked about covering it but we never did.....
You've lived a very interesting life Doc. You occasionally throw these little nuggets of info into a comment and I've been patiently stringing them all together.
MM also recorded his debut album "Portrait of an American Family" at the cielo Dr. Residence when Trent Reznor had the house. .....these posters are awsome. I was a huge spooky kids fan when i was a kid in the 90s
