The 100 page file was complied during the investigation into the attempted assassination of President Ford by Lynette Fromme on September 5. 1975. The primary focus of the file is determining whether or not the attempt was part of a broader conspiracy between associates and correspondents or sympathizers of Charles Manson and the so called Manson Family. Dean Moorehouse appears in the file as an associate of Charles Manson who's writings, activities, contacts and discussions were examined for possible threats against government officials. The investigation is clearly to have been intelligence gathering in nature rather than establishing direct connections to Moorehouse and any connection to President Ford assassination attempt. One was also done on Linda Kasabian where she, along with Cappy (Catherine Barton) were questioned about Lynette.
The file has six major sections that have interviews with
*"Family" members
* Friends
* Former associates
* Manson "followers"
* Correspondents
* Prison inmates
then moves to psychological and medical history, "Family Members"associates and correspondents, Death Valley and the Minietta mine investigation, investigation relating to additional leads, and basically a miscellaneous section.
A substantial portion of the file consists of interviews with people who Lynette before her involvement with Charles Manson.
The interviewees described her childhood and early life to family difficulties, suicide attempts. etc.
Another focus is on identifying people who corresponded with Charles Manson and whom he talked to in prison. For example, an inmate reported receiving and transporting a note from Charles Manson in 1972, and according to the "witness" the note included language interpreted as encouraging violence against President Nixon. The "witness" claimed the message referenced "President R. Nixon gets his blast at point-blank range." Something similar was found in the Ronald Reagan FBI file, but no said letter could be found upon investigation as seen here:
While the file is heavily redacted (which is absurd these days) it's not hard to figure out who is being interviewed, especially the "Manson girls" in prison.
