Patricia Krenwinkel - May 26, 2022 - Parole Hearing Transcript

Tobias sent me the link to Patricia Krenwinkel's most recent parole hearing over a week ago but I failed to notice in a timely manner as I've been outside hunting rabbits and earwigs in the hot Ohio sun. Thanks, Tobias.

And thanks as always to cielodrive.com for stocking and hosting the Manson Family research library year after year. You rock, dude.

Patricia Krenwinkel Will Soon Walk Among You

Just kidding. Old Gavin will arrive with Thor's hammer and smash the shit out of her in six months or less.

At least for right now, Katie Marnie Reeves etc gets to dream about trips to Knott's Berry Farm and the beach and Stoner Van Houten's crib for a series of live shows.

Does anyone think Krenwinkel will actually walk

Gavin Newsom Dunks on Leslie Van Houten Again

Less than two months before Patricia Krenwinkel has another turn in front of the parole board, California Governor Gavin Newsom goes hard on crime and sends Leslie back to her room after saying she's still dangerous.

Sometimes there are laws and rules and regulations. Other times, a rich person gets to decide your fate.

But I gotta agree with the guv. This morning, a seventy-two year old woman stared me down at the IHOP while I ate my chocolate chip pancakes and extra crispy bacon. Lemme tell ya, I was relieved when I escaped the situation without violence happening to me.

Leslie Free?

Are you on the side of the governors who perpetually say tough luck to Manson group paroles or do you think Leslie is punished enough? Like in your heart and gut. Not who did what time. Not listen here Green she was sentenced to this and then that so fuck her. Just you and your thoughts. If they gave you the key and it was up to you and no one else would ever know you had anything to do with the process, would you keep her locked in there?

One could make an argument that this whole situation we endlessly debate was created by putting our youngest into cages. And then possibly that person could take their thoughts to the next point by saying we look like cavemen and women locking the old and infirm into similar cages.

Leslie has spent my lifetime in the hallways. Part of the reason I think is because she sang in the other hallway. And I truly respect Doris' question about the victims' paroles. Moreover, the tribal survival part of me knows we need to remove weird murderers from our mix for the general safety of all.

The intellectual side of me (if there is one) wonders why California is still intent upon imprisoning a woman who carries the overall threat level of a cicada shell. I'd free her in the name of empathy if they handed me the key to her cell.

What sayest you?

Bruce Davis Granted Parole For The Fourth Time

This just in..... Bruce has again been granted parole according to The LA Times

Bruce Davis, an associate of Charles Manson who was convicted in two of the nine killings tied to the cult, was found Thursday to be eligible for parole, corrections officials said.

The finding is now subject to a 120-day review and could still be blocked by Gov. Jerry Brown, according to a statement released by the state corrections department.

Sitting governors have stopped three previous attempts to grant parole to Davis, 72. In 2013, Brown said Davis is "still dodging responsibility" for his role in the Manson family's gruesome actions in 1969.

Though he wasn't involved in the Tate-LaBianca killings, Davis was convicted in 1972 for the murders of Gary Hinman, an aspiring musician, and Donald "Shorty" Shea, a stuntman and employee at the Chatsworth ranch where Manson and his followers lived.

Davis claims he did not participate in the killings of actress Sharon Tate, who was married to director Roman Polanski and pregnant at the time, or Los Feliz residents Leno and Rosemary LaBianca.
In the 40 years he has spent in prison, Davis has married, fathered a child and earned a doctoral degree in religion.

Manson remains incarcerated at Corcoran State Prison, where he is serving a life sentence. His next parole hearing is scheduled for 2027.

Bobby's Parole Hearing Moved to February

I am not on Bobby Beausoleil's mailing list but a friend of mine is on the list.  That friend received an email saying that Bobby's parole hearing has been moved from October up to mid February.  Here is the text of the email.

My request to the Board Of Parole Hearings for advancement of my hearing was granted in consideration of the new materials Jason  submitted to the Board on my behalf. The hearing was advanced by ten months and is now scheduled to take place in mid-February. We have been preparing for this hearing for several years, and most of the prep work has been done; overall we are in good shape to proceed. However, there are still a few pieces that need to be done, such as gathering together some letters of support for my release from close friends and relations who may be inclined to write one. There is a bit of a scramble to get these things together in the weeks left to us before we must commence with the hearing.

A letter of support from you will be most welcome. If you would like to weigh in and express your point of view or your sentiments regarding my release on parole, I invite you to do so.

After so many years and so many parole hearings writing a letter may seem like an exercise in futility, especially with the politics that are unfortunately an influence in my situation. But there really is no telling in advance how these things will go. Parole dates are being granted, some surprising ones at that.  If the Board is leaning at all toward granting me a parole in this hearing a letter of support from you is likely to figure significantly in their consideration.

From experience I can tell you that a letter of support is most likely to be read by the Board if the length of the letter is kept to one page or less. Typewritten or handwritten, either way is fine, whatever your preference. The heading can be To the Board of Parole Hearings, In Support of Robert Beausoleil, or simply To Whom It May Concern. If you choose to write a letter, please address it to:

Support for Robert Beausoleil
c/o Jason T. Campbell, Esq.
Bay Area Lawyers PA
300 Montgomery Street, Ste. 660
San Francisco, CA 94104

Again, from long experience I know that there is no talking anyone into granting me a parole date. Doing the right thing is a choice we all make in the moment, and is not something that can be imposed on a person or entity by another. I am resolved to hold to the center and preserve my integrity whatever the outcome of this hearing may be. Honestly, this is the best I can do, and I will pray for the strength to hold true in this resolve.

I am grateful for your support, in whatever manner you choose
to express it.

In love and peace,

Bobby

Leslie Van Houten Parole Hearing Today

Today, June 5, 2013, is the 20th parole hearing for Leslie Van Houten.  What do you think the chances are this time for her parole?  Will she go the way of Bruce Davis and be recommended for parole only to have that opportunity negated by the governor?   Will she be outright denied like she has 19 times before?  Or will she be granted parole?

We will let you know the board's decision as soon as we learn of it.  In  the mean time here is a December 11, 1969 Pasadena Star News article, one of the first articles to feature Leslie.

MUZZLE ORDERED IN TATE CASE

Strict limits were ordered Wednesday in Los Angeles on principals in the case of the slayings of Sharon Tate and six other persons.

Superior Court Judge William B. Keene said any violation of his order would be considered contempt of court.

His order -- similar to that issued to guarantee a fair trial for Sirhan B. Sirhan, convicted of killing Sen. Robert F. Kennedy -- came after three young women defendants waived arraignment on murder charges.

Judges' Ban

Judge Keene restricted "attorneys, public officials, law enforcement officers, grand jurors, witnesses and others from making extrajudicial statements... related to this case."

A section directed at defense attorneys told them not to release evidence they intend to present not to express an opinion on the weight, value of effect or any evidence in establishing guilt or innocence.

Girl At Scene

Attorneys for one defendant last week made public her story that she was at the scene of two sets of killings, and gave limited details of her account.

Susan Atkins, 21, Linda Kasabian, 20, and Leslie Louise Van Houten, 19, were impassive during the waiving of arraignment and reading of the publicity order.  The murmured "no" when asked if they had questions about their rights or about the order.

Dec. 22 was set for pleas from Mrs. Kasabian and Miss Van Houten and Dec. 16 was set for Miss Atkins.  Miss Van Houten was identified by in the proceedings, with her home town given as Monrovia, Calif.  She previously had been identified as Leslie Sankston.

Monrovia High Grad

Miss Van Houten was reported to have gone through schools in Monrovia, at least from junior high school onward, graduating from Monrovia High School in 1967.

A girl friend said Miss Van Houten started to drop out of school activities in her senior year and had considered entering a convent to become a nun soon after graduation.  She apparently changed her mind and completed a course in a secretarial school in Manhattan Beach while living with her father, Paul Van Houten.

"She was a nice girl," the friend commented.

The three, with Charles M. Manson, 35, Charles D. Watson, 24, and Patricia Krenwinkel, 22, were indicted on murder conspiracy charges Monday in the slayings of Miss Tate and four others at her home last Aug. 9, and of Mr. and Mrs. Leno LaBianca the next night.

Watson is in custody in McKinney, Texas and Miss Krenwinkel is in custody in Mobile, Ala.

The bearded Manson, identified as the "God" and "Satan" of a communal group whose members slavishly did his bidding, is to be arraigned Thursday.  He was brought to L.A. Tuesday from Independence, Calif., where he had been held since being arrested in October.  He is accused of operating a car theft ring for the band's desert commune near Death Valley.

Justices Deny Van Houten's Habeas Corpus Petition

newsfeed.time.com

"In other conference action, the justices:

Denied review of the summary denial, by this district’s Div. One, of the most recent habeas corpus petition by Manson family member Leslie Van Houten. Van Houten, now 63, was 19—the youngest of the defendants—at the time of what have become known as the Tate/LaBianca murders.

Van Houten admitted her involvement in the August 1969 murders of Leno and Rosemary La Bianca in their Cielo Drive home. One day earlier, actress Sharon Tate and four others were murdered at the home Tate rented with her husband, director Roman Polanski, who was in Europe at the time.

Van Houten was convicted of the La Bianca murders. She was not present during the Tate murders but was convicted of conspiracy to commit them.

Rosemary La Bianca was stabbed a total of 42 times, and Van Houten said at various times that she had herself stabbed the woman 14 or 16 times. Another Manson Family member testified that Van Houten admitted stabbing La Bianca after she was already dead and said “the more she did it the more fun it was.”

She has now been denied parole 19 times."

Questionable Questions from B&B Enterprises Questionnaire!

Once again, ladies & gentlemen (and psychos) out there in blog land, I went ahead, and read the transcript of Bobby Beausoleil's 1985 parole hearing, which DebS was kind enough to post earlier, and came upon some questionable questions from a questionnaire that was given to interested parties of B&B Enterprise publications. Can it be safe to assume that these questions were not pulled out of anyone's (large) rear, and were directly found in a parole hearing transcript? You bet! Without further delay, I bring you "B&B Enterprises" questionable questions from a questionnaire:

Who is responsible for the most discipline in your family?
Earliest age?
Did you become sexually aroused as a child by being spanked?
Did you ever become sexually aroused as a child while watching someone else spanked?
Were you ever spanked unjustly?
Can you describe your feelings?
Do you have children your own age who are in charge of other children who you sometimes spank for disciplinary reasons?
When you think of spanking, do you envision yourself as a spanker or a spankee?
Do you participate in spanking with another adult?
Do you think of spanking as purely disciplinary or erotic?
A mixture?
What is your favorite position for administering a spanking?
As a spanker do you prefer bare hand, paddle, hair brush, or other?
What should be the position of underpants during a spanking?
What do you, what, do you prefer stories of boys or girls about being spanked?
Some spanking literature stresses playfulness.

NOTE: Well, heck, I guess there isn't a thing wrong with these types of questions. Any NORMAL magazine/publication would, and SHOULD always ask their readers if they get aroused by being spanked. Don't you think MAD magazine, or Glamour, or even National Geographic should ask those too? Of course! There isn't anything remotely creepy about those questions!

Available...Bobby Beausoleil's 1985 Parole Hearing Report with mention of Sassy Bottoms

I was able to acquire the 1985 parole hearing of Bobby Beausoleil in hard copy. It is 161 pages. I scanned it over the course of two days. Matt stitched it and reduced the file to a manageable size (around 20mb).

The Sassy Bottoms material starts on page 30 and appears again throughout the document.

We've changed the link from the PDF to a web copy of the transcript at TOTL:

DeJon R Lewis

Mr. DeJon Ramone Lewis recently came to "fame" when he represented Charles Manson at his latest parole hearing. The one which Charlie chose NOT to attend. Patty heard him interviewed recently on Brian Davis' excellent radio show (see http://www.starcityradio.com). It was also on Mr. Davis' show that Patty inquired a while back, "who is Charlie's attorney?" The barrage of comments came that it was Giovanni di Stefano. Patty was suspicious of this answer because friend of the blog A.C. said it wasn't so, and because she could find no proof on line.

Anywhoo, Patty was very impressed by Mr. DeJon R. Lewis' professional demeanor and his eloquence. And she also tends to agree with him that Charlie needs a shrink at this point, not more time in the hole.  Think of the things that criminal science could learn from him!

Patty is not ashamed to admit that because of Mr. Lewis' first name and the lovely baritone of his speaking voice, she assumed he was black. Turns out, he is. How, you ask, does a black man come to represent the world's most evil man, the one who wanted blacks to be subjugated to him and his 144,000 offspring at the conclusion of his epic race war? How does this happen? Because, Helter Skelter was a lie, in Patty's humble opinion, and because Mr. Lewis appears (on the very surface, at least) to be a thoughtful and competent attorney.

Patty took the liberty of looking up Mr. Lewis on line. He did his undergrad at Chaminade in Honolulu where Patty's sister used to work, and law school at the Ventura College of Law. He passed the Bar in 2003, and practices injury and family law in Ventura, CA just south and west of Corcoran, but in a different county. How then did he get to be Charlie's court appointed attorney? Mr. Lewis has never even met him, as per Mr. Lewis. Patty needs to look into this a bit further, don't you think?

Surprised?

Another pic from June 2011

Corcoran, California (CNN) -- Notorious killer Charles Manson, 77, was denied parole Wednesday after a California parole panel "could find nothing good as far as suitability" for his being paroled, a commissioner said.

Manson didn't show up for his parole hearing, which was held at a state prison in Corcoran, California, where he is serving a life sentence.

Manson's next parole hearing was scheduled for 15 years from now, meaning he could die in prison.

That came back to bite him in his ass

A different take on Tex's last parole hearing.

Summoning Shea's memory during the parole hearing, Sequeira acknowledged that in 1970 there was only enough evidence to charge Manson and cult members Steve Grogan and Bruce Davis with Shea's killing and decapitation ; but the prosecutor added the subsequent investigations suggest that Watson was part of the four man hit team that carried out the execution telling the Commissioners "Inmate Watson certainly had knowledge of this crime and the whereabouts of Mr. Shea's body for years." Once he was convicted of the other murders, he was certainly in a position to help, and yet he did nothing to assist law enforcement in finding Mr. Shea's body."
Shorty Shea's skeletal remains were located in 1977 on a steep grassy gully off the Santa Susana Pass. It was Clem Grogan who finally leadauthorities to the murder site. The discovery was made without the help of Charles Watson-and it was made some three years after Watson claimed to devoted his life to Christianity.
"If he truly had remorse," Sequeira observed "why has he never come forward to tell law enforcement about this and other crimes, committed by the Manson Family? That doesn't strike me as remorseful."

Thanks to a friend for the article.
