Is Inyo county as big as I think? Barker ranch is in Inyo county 125 miles from the courthouse? That's a big county if it is.

Not sure how big Inyo County is, but many counties in Central and Northern California are quite big, but are sparsely populated.

I think Inyo is the second biggest county in California, but its desolate. Independence where the court and jail are has a population of around 600 people.

Oh, yeah. Independence is way north of Barker - prolly a good 2 or 3 hour drive once you get out of the Goler Wash, up by Manzanar. It's a HUGE county.

I visited Mammath Lakes last September. And saw the courthouse on the way up.
It had been yrs. since I had traveled up Hwy 395......all the towns along the way have changed so much.
Most of Inyo county is wilderness.
But towns like Lone Pine, Big Pine,
and Bishop have doubled and tripled since I last saw them.
