This was at the back ranch
The Family held meetings at the back ranch which connsisted of an old ranch house.I was looking at that oak and wondering if it would grow that big in arid Chatsworth. There are two tall trees just visable behind the trailer in the distance. There are few big trees in the hilly Chatsworth hills. The trailer appears to be the residence of a cowboy. There is a plastic cactus, plastic rocking horse to the right of the door.

http://www.charliemanson.com/places/aerial-1.htmCheck the pic of the ranch. Where do you think that trailer was located Ken? In the yellow or green area? The only cowboy that i know of at Spahns who lived in a trailer was Randy Starr who lived behind the movie ranch. Dunno where Shorty lived at Spahns. Dunno if there were other cowboys at Spahns other than those two. There were other wranglers but were they cowboy actors/stuntmen? dunno
MrPoirot said...The trailer appears to be the residence of a cowboy. There is a plastic cactus, plastic rocking horse to the right of the door.Well, that's how I always tell if a Cowboy is living somewhere. They always have a plastic cactus and a rocking horse in their front yard. It's the best way to tell if they are a "real" Cowboy.
The plastic cactus was probably a prop off a movie set which makes me think that trailer belongs to a cowboy stunt man. how do you know that is at Spahn Ranch? Where did you get that pic? I'm not saying it isnt at Spahns I'm just curious how you know that.

whomever lived in that trailer was probably a cowboy stuntman because the cactus was a prop taken from a studio. Only Randy Starr and Shorty were known to be active stuntmen. Maybe there were others.Im beginning to wonder if the back ranch area was any area behind George's house. the dirt road tween the movie set and the back ranch went behind Georges house
Known by YOU! Many stuntmen worked the ranch, those are the only two you knew because...you only know what you read in books.
Then why dont you tell us who they are. We are trying to ID the trailer and where it stood. If you dont know then say so. How are things in your revisionist blog Col? Has Bugliosi bitch slapped you lately?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXuHNGZHGyU&feature=relatedThe only cowboy trailer drawn on Tex's map of Spahns was Randy Starr's but there are other trailers as you can see in this youtube. You can also see behind George Spahn's house in this video. The road to the back ranch goes behind George's house.
Do you see the Outlaw shacks? They were there too. The only time I've seen an Outlaw shack is in that one picture. I know they were there though.
It seems likely that the outlaw shacks were hauled up the dirt road to the back ranch and parked somewhere off that dirt road in the back ranch area. There was an old ranch house back there though. No pictures exist of it as far as I know. Seems like somebody would have took a pic of it. Naurally any trailers would be parked just barely off a road.
So you believe the outlaw shacks were at the back ranch without even seeing a picture of them. You see the picture of the trailer stating it's on the back ranch and have a hard time believing it.makes sense
No I think that trailer could be on the back ranch. See that road behind it? That may be the dirt road to the back ranch. But that building next to it may be the shower building Randy Starr's trailer was parked next to. That was at the movie ranch. Trailers get moved.
That pic of the outlaw shack is by the dirt road to the back ranch. It cant be behind the movie ranch. there isnt an open area that big behind the movie ranch.
http://www.charliemanson.com/spahn-ranch-2.htmIs this the old ranch house on the back ranch?
I HAD a picture of the outlaw shacks. As does Matt and Patty. If they no longer have theirs, I will contact the person who sent the pic to me and ask for it again.
That isn't Randy's trailer. That isn't the shower building. That image from Turner's site is the outlaw shacks that were on Retz property.I have an image that is supposed to be of the back ranch house. I lifted it from Brett's site, I think. Have to find it.I think an image of inside of the back ranch house was published in Time Magazine. The image with the mattresses and and the fireplace.
Ken if you had an exterior shot of the old ranch house on the back ranch Id love to see it. According to the Map Tex drew it was very large: bigger than any building at the movie ranch. Basically i was trying to find out what the back ranch area looked like. Until Frank Retz bought it that entire 500 acre area was Georges domain and the Family prowled all over it. When the area burned in 71 George only owned 20 acres.
I guess the fact that Retz owned the back ranch when the murders started is why there are so few pics in existance
Retz property wasn't the back ranch.

The pix is in Chatsworth. This area had all kinds of oak trees as well as eucalyptus trees...how do I know? I grew-up 3 miles from Spanh's. I've been all over these rocks as well as in the train tunnel. Anyone who lived at the ranch would have heard the train..especially at night.
Hi.The back ranch house was more a barn.It had plywood stained or painted a faded red. The upper rafters was like a log cabin.I believe a centra chimney was there.A hippy guy was paying rent and staying there who had a vacuum shift 1948 Chrysler.I knew how to repair the solenoid switches on these primitive automatics. That was July Aug 1968 .I remember 'Hey Jude'was on AM radio.A woman real estate saleswoman had taken photos of the property. She moved to Woodside with her husband who worked for Raytheon sonar on Half Moon Bay. I know this because everyone was looking for photos during the 1970 trial and more so after the Sept 1970 fire. Locals or former neighbors were paid money to track her down in San Mateo. But yes the mattress photo is inside the Back Ranch. Randy Starr had polio I believe.I saw he had a gimpy arm. He died a suddenly a couple of weeks before the Sept 1970 fire. BTW I heard the family was kicked off Spahn in late 1968 but I could be wrong. I have photos taken after Manson was finked out by motor mouth Atkins of the Ranch.George let other family members stay till the fire. They thought Manson would be back. Word is that Sandy Good received close to $2000 month from a trust fund in 1969. That's like $10 grand today.
