Q & A Tuesday

Hi Eviliz,

I don't suppose I could ask another question for a Q&A ? We'll, I have two actually, and perhaps one of them could merit a post ;-) Here goes:
Who is the man named Kim mentioned in Paul's book, "My Life With Charles Manson?" He's mentioned several times, most notably in the acid freak out story, but then Paul says he split a week after the incident, and he never saw him again. Who is Kim and where is he today?

Everyone who ran across Manson seems to agree that he had quite a persuasive manner of speaking. Advanced pimp guru con type of stuff. Well, I finally got around to watching, "Inside The Manson Gang" and was completely disappointed by his super-lame rants. Like, I forwarded the playhead it was so bad. Did his super-bad "rap" lose power over the years or was it always just babbling redneck nonsense? I want to believe the former...
Thanks for your consideration,
hippiekiller67

I've only seen one clip of Charlie where I thought his 'tone' was persuasive. I don't remember his 'message' but, if he was supplying me with food, shelter, drugs, and sex, I suspect I'd have found it persuasive as well. The fact that prospective 'family' members who didn't 'fit in' had to leave, might have also assured that he maintained a group that he found easy to persuade.

True, but Paul also mentions that at the trials, Charilie's rap was so eloquent that even the prosecution- even the Bug- we're kinda blown away. Anyway, hey, it was just one underwhelming vid I watched and well, maybe I'm just not in Charlie's demographic ;-)

I do want to know more about this Kim guy though.

I'd be interested in learning more about Kim, too. I remember him from Paul's book.

Anybody have anything?

While I have always felt Charlie had some game from the intensity-rap perspective, I have also always felt strongly that the Manson Family for the most part were idiots and imbeciles. I know that sounds incredibly harsh and judgemental, but try watching that tape of Bruce when he turned himself in, his idiotic mimicking of Manson's rap. It's beyond juvenile, it's borderline retarded. Same with the film of Brenda, Sandy and Squeaky fondling their guns. Maybe allot of us were that idiotic at twenty, but I don't think so.
I think we do tend, well, not glorify, but certainly give these people to much credit as "free love hippies". Sure, they were fried from the drugs, but a good per centage of the Family were also flat out morons.
Maybe Liz or someone can dig up all the Family members SAT scores.
Kidding.

Leary7,
Is the tape of Bruce mimicking Charlie, on Back Porch Tapes? Could you tell me how to identify it?

Quite frankly I don't think anyone was interested in Charles Manson himself. The guy spent his whole life is jail and was and still is a blathering idiot.

The whole interest in Manson is the affect he had on what seemed like nice, beautiful, intelligent, middle class American girls. The girls are 1,000 more interesting than Manson.

Good comments here- I agree with a lot of what leary7 and BigJoe101 are saying.

owhat, here's Bruce Davis turning himself in: http://youtu.be/ffyB3ikFPMI

hippiekiller,
Thank you. I'd long suspected that the "Everybody Wants to Help" speech from the 73 movie was some thing that Bruce was parroting from Manson. I guess this confirms it.

I have a question about the maid. I've seen where Parent's car was in relation to the maid's path from the gate...how on earth did she not see Parent in the car that was right in her path to the house?
