Bad call. Freeman is a grandson (?). Brunner is a son. Leave it to the 'law' to twist the adoption issue into play.

Well how about this .... Freeman's parents never married and his bio father never had much to do with him (raised by stepfather and mother) so does that mean, according to the law like with Brunner, his connections with his bio father and bio grandfather are broken ?

Of all people to give advice on the respectful handling of remains, we get Debra. What ever happened to her father's ashes, anyhow?

Bella Donna said...

Didn't he say he plans to stuff the ashes into a puppet?

Yes unknown he did a spoof video with his son that created a bit of a stink.

Yet another bullsh*t decision...
I get the legalities behind it, thanks to Dreath's previous post. But still bullsh*t.
A law needs to be passed ASAP COMPELLING prisoners to designate: a) a designated person to receive body if they die while incarcerated, or choice b) burial or cremation by prison entity in Potter's field or prison graveyard, like at Angola.
Otherwise it's just one as*hole like Manson after another, gaming the system. How many hungry kids could have been fed on the taxpayer $$ it cost for all of the hearings on this stupid matter?!
Brunner should have gotten the body.
Hopefully Channels gets the estate, because Gurecki is a class-A blowhard.

Really? I agree about Gurecki but Channels is a class-A nut-hugger who only wants the notoriety in my opinion.

I've never had any contact with Brunner but Jason is a good guy. Hopefully the 2 of them can work out a deal on the estate but otherwise i have no problem with it going to Jason

Has DNA testing verified that either Freeman or Brunner are actually related to Charley?

Hi Terrapin: The reason I prefer Channels, having never met him; is because he did seem to be genuine in his connection to Manson. I don't know anyone involved so I put value in the opinions of acquaintances that I respect, who do know the players involved in the saga. (Although someone I respect is a friend of Gurecki's, & keeps trying to convince me he's "okay". Based on his YouTube videos, I think he's a pontificating, pompous a-hole.) So my opinion is a junk opinion here on this particular subject, not an informed one. Always open to new info and other much more informed opinions re: estate.

Manson just seems to burn through anyone who ever genuinely cares about him. Yet another thing that makes me dislike him. He just uses everyone, & some seem like really decent people, like George Stimson. But in the end that's all between the people involved.

A friend is a Therapist and was talking to me about Attachment Disorder. It really would go a long way towards explaining Manson's inability to truly care about anyone (or trust anyone). I find this whole riff about his body & estate another example of his selfishness.

Channels, to Patty, is just "Mike." She'd like to think he's a personal friend. He did , Patty believes, what he thought the old man wanted him to do. They were friends.

It’s not the legal system’s fault Charlie did not have this stuff clearly sorted out.

Trilby said...

It's the legal system's fault that there's always a loophole to be exploited.
Prisoners should be compelled to either designate heir(s) or be buried by prison. Mandatory form to be signed upon incarceration. No more wasting taxpayer dollars on this baloney.

cielodrivecom said...

Sounds to me that your issue is with the legislature and not the legal system.

Charlie had plenty of time to sort this out properly and he didn’t. The court would’ve preferred he did, and not be involved

Clearly it wasn’t important to Charlie

What are you going to do if they refuse? Put ‘em in jail?

Robert C said...

I agree with Trilby. Every prisoner needs to respond upon incarceration to a number of key questions like next of kin and burial issues. If they refuse then upon death in prison it would default to the State to cremate and dump the remains in a 'potter's field' on prison grounds (or the nearest), paid for out of the decease's estate if any. It's clean, straightforward and no legal clowning around.

Good one, Jenn! :)

It's quite eye opening, at least here in England, how few people have made a will or how late a lot of people leave it until "they get around to it." My wife went on about it for years before I even thought about it. Because though logical and sensible, many of us don't really want to think about what will happen to our remains when we die because it feels like one then has to think about death.
Not the most pleasant thing to think about when you don't have to.
I'd imagine that in jail on a lifer's card, sorting out one's affairs may seem either somewhat absurdly ironic or something that isn't exactly going to take priority in one's thinking. Especially if one is in the kind of conundrum that Charlie found himself.

Actually, MM

Aside from the way you said what you said and the gratuitous insults (neither of which was necessary or appropriate) your point about the 'Authentic' is well taken. If Mr. Channels believed he had a valid will why would he stamp that will for sale with that tag.

Patty is Dead said...

Yeah it's weird that he stamped it but Patty doesn't believe that necessarily mean that he wanted to sell it.

Patty is Dead said...

Oh and don't feed the trolls.

All of this makes me so glad I ditched most of my social media accounts. Hearing all these horror stories about Charlie's remains being disrespected is terribly depressing.

I'm just glad Manson wasn't alive to see all this.

And you can now buy a funeral pamphlet and a rose off the casket for $2000 on Craigslist to "help cover the cost of expenses."

Bella Donna said...

I knew their intentions were suspect. I felt it all along. I don't believe for one minute that the money is for funeral expenses. They probably already had that money made through the various "campaigns"

Brian G said...

The man paid for his crimes. Sad anyone had to rot on ice while people fought over money and let's face it that's what all the fighting was about

David said...

Brian G,

You are absolutely correct. If you listen to the video up there the person complaining about the pictures taken apparently got ahold of one and 'sold it first'.

PS (the video): The 'Show Me State' is Missouri not Ohio. Apparently, Mr. Freeman did not grow up in Ohio.

Charlie's head should have been frozen so he could be brought back some day.

Brian G said...

I hate when people act like vultures. I lost out twice now with family members acting like that. It sickens me. I'm far from perfect but fighting over dead people is the line for me

creepycrawly34 said...

Freeman's a hypocrite, he just wants to make money. Look at him selling the funeral brochures for $100 a pop. He didn't even scatter the ashes where Charles had requested. Brunner should have been the one. Charlie's probably getting a kick outta of all this though. He's dead and still dividing people who all feel they have some cosmic fucking connection to him. Still playing you all. Fools.

Freeman always looked homicidal to me.

I think it was fair. Freedman is the known Grandson. The other "son" either failed the DNA test or they were not able to test correctly, due to the government not allowing a test to be done properly. If those people had not died, Manson would of not been in jail and he could have picked the other "son" or the pen pal.
