I look at that house and i see a car full of teenagers pulling up on the driveway to pick up Charles and go cruising on a Friday night...so spooky. How does it happen that normal goes astray?

I felt the same way when we filmed this. How could so much evil come from this small quiet community?
I am sure Tex had a huge culture shock when he first arrived in L.A.

I’ve been there myself and I can’t say I didn’t think the same thing.

From the very gate of heaven there is a byway to the pit.

Does the Watson family still own the property? Does Tex have siblings still around?

I wondered about that, if there was anyone inside peeking out and if they knew what was happening

I don't know if the property is still owned by the Watson family or not. An interesting side note: We ate lunch at a Brewhouse and pizza place right across the street from the old Collin County Jail after filming the jail. Our waitress came up to our table and asked if we realized the last public hanging in Collin County took place behind the jail in the alley? We said yes, Did you know that "Tex" Watson from the manson family was held here as well.... She had no idea....lol

The property is not owned by Watsons any longer. And yeah, the local people have done their best to bury the story.

Ima, last I checked (3 years ago) he had a sister living in Dallas. I wrote her with a question. No reply...

@ vettboss, great video! Love your channel.

@ Matt, thank you. Can't say I blame the remaining relatives for their silence.

Watching this, I couldn't help but get a very sad feeling. This was a happy family home right next to the family business. I am sure there were family fun and picnics in that yard. Then in an instant that all changed and there was probably never another happy day at that property while the Watsons were still living there. His parents suffered the rest of their lives knowing that they raised a destroyer of life. And yet they stuck by him until they died. Good people that did not deserve the broken hearts caused by the son they raised with love. So sad.

Wouldn't you ? If your child/sibling/partner/close friend killed evily, would you just have nothing to do with them ?

Not to get into a religious argument, but any cursory understanding of at least Christian philosophy helps with that. The basic premise is that we're all flawed and none of us can guarantee what we would or wouldn't do because of that flaw. Criminal bent knows no class, upbringing or pleasant smiles. We're all subject to the same flaws. And we handle them all differently at different times in our lives. For better and worse.

Hell, yes!

From Dr. Joel Fort's interview of Tex on July 1971:

"She(Tex's mom) was very active in the Eastern Star..."

The Eastern Star is an offshoot of the Freemasons.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Eastern_Star
Members of the Order are aged 18 and older; men must be Master Masons and women must have specific relationships with Masons. Originally, a woman would have to be the daughter, widow, wife, sister, or mother of a Master Mason...

So who the Master Mason in Tex's mom's life?

--------------------

The LAPD police chief at the time of TLB was a guy named Roger E. Murdock, a person you don't hear of a lot. (Chief from May 6, 1969 to August 28, 1969)
He was also a Mason, a member of Liberal Arts Masonic Lodge, #677 of Los Angeles, CA.

OO-ee-OO!

If I was a member of that community I think I would like that old Watson building should be torn down and the Watson house as well. It has been fifty years since the murders and that community does not need to be reminded of what Tex did every time they drive down that road. Put a park there or a condominium. Of course if this property were in California it could be turned into a museum.

We lived less than 7 miles from the Watson property for 11 years. We never new the property existed or that Tex Watson was from There. There are not that many references to where Tex grew up other than the fact that he went to Farmersville High School. Even though he attended Farmersville schools, he actually grew up in the small town of Copeville.

... they raised a destroyer of life ...

Here’s a slightly different perspective. Nothing I have ever read suggests that Tex was raised to be a destroyer of life or a destroyer of anything else. Part of what keeps so many of us perpetually interested in TLB and the Family is because, with the exception of Manson, the people involved were generally raised as all-American as one could expect for the times. I don’t doubt that Tex’s parents felt shame, but I hope they never felt guilt or culpability.

California Supreme Court to Review Van Houten Parole Reversal

Is this the continuation of her petition for writ of HC?

The reason I ask is because I understand her petition makes reference to the Tex Tapes, and I would be interested to know if you or anyone thinks there is reason to suspect that the California Supreme Court’s eventual decision could in some way result in a release of these tapes.

Carlos, lapd says the tapes are part of an active investigation and cannot be released. I think it's bullshit but I don't think they will come to light any time soon
