I was going to ask why he claimed several times that the murders were planned from Barker when it was established that clearly wasn't how it happened at all, but people already mentioned it on the YT comments. His diligence, though, has to be applauded. My only wish was that there was a bit more backstory surrounding his preparations. He obviously had provisions and hydration but I wanna know what he did prior to setting off. As phone service was almost immediately off the table, what was the agreed time for people to alert the authorities should he not return by a designated time? The potentiality for that clip to emerge as "found footage" would have been rife in such a harsh environment. I'm also thinking of the dude who was trapped in that rockface and had to sever his arm in order to survive and that terrain looks unforgiving AF, if he got stuck he well and truly would have been screwed.

Also, I wished he devoted more time to showing us some more of that graffiti in those structures, even if much of it may have been gobbledegook. I might go back to select bits and run it at minimal speed and see if there are any potential outlying gems. Though I think he would have pointed them out, part of me thinks he was thinking "right, it's getting too creepy now to do that".

Watching right now. It does my heart good to know that there's still places on the planet that humans haven't turned into condos and strip malls.

Who started the investigation that finally lowered the boom on Charlie and Family? It wasn't the LAPD, nor the LASO, nor the CHP, nor the FBI, nor the Inyo County Sheriff. It was the park rangers of the National Park Service. I've always been amazed by this factoid. Yet no one ever credits Smokey the Bear! It ain't right!

Yes. Incredibly beautiful landscape.

I know! It's like the USPS Police catching Steve Bannon, they didn't get the credit they deserved, either! Charlie wasn't so clever that he remembered that if you wanna stay hidden, don't draw attention to yourself. Although it would've been easier before the advent of helicopters used by the police, et al, wouldn't it?

I thought Sadie Mae's big mouth started the boom lowering...

Nah, that was just a cover story.

Dec. 10, 1969 news article –
A Highway Patrol investigator who spearheaded early investigations leading to the arrests of a nomadic group called “The Family” in Death Valley said there was talk of a connection between the group and the Sharon Tate murders as early as October. ....
Steuber said after the Oct. 9 arrests there was some speculation of a connection between the Tate murders and the desert commune group but said it wasn’t until Oct. 13 following a meeting with Los Angeles County detectives that “we formed a firm opinion there was a definite link between this group and the Tate case.

Note this was a month before the Atkins confession to Graham was discovered by the cops.

That article sounds like bs. How did they link the cases? It's like every other pre cctv-dna stranger murder, only solved by a dumb mistake by the perp: confession, victim who survived, or reckless behavior.
